billhaas Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Someone at tch please help me: I am very frustrated and not sure where to turn. Maybe somebody in higher management or an owner of totalchoicehosting will contact me to help resolve my situation. I have been an indirect customer of total choice hosting thru a re-seller for a 3 plus years. My problem started approximately on March 23. For some reason the reseller that managemed my website and tch had a problem. My site was evaporated off the web with no notice to me. I would of been fine paying tch direct. When I finally got thru live to the billing department I thought that was just what I was doing. This took many calls and only after a few weeks did I get through even though I had left message and requested a call back. I established my own account but my site was was never restored even though I got the following message from tech support (this was after many email message back and forth): From: Tom Duncan [mailto:support@totalchoicehosting.com] Sent: Friday, March 09, 2007 2:51 PM To: billhaas@kw.com Subject: [OJS-98488]: reseller account terminated-transfer please reseller account terminated-transfer please A TotalChoice Staff Member has replied to your Help Desk Ticket with the following: Hi, We have set up your domain as a separate (silver hosting plan) account on the server and have restored the old backup. Please try accessing and verify this from your end. Regards, Tom Duncan, Technical Support, TotalChoice Hosting, Inc. But the site was never restored. But then I got this message: reseller account terminated-transfer please A TotalChoice Staff Member has replied to your Help Desk Ticket with the following: Hi Bill, I've had a look for you at what happened here. The backup was there when the reseller account was removed, and was there on 1st March. At our next backup date, on the third of March the back is overwritten by the latest data from the main disk. Unfortunately this meant that since the reseller and accounts had been removed, your data was overwritten by blank data - ie nothing. I am checking to see if we still have an old copy in an offsite backup. -------------- Andy Beckett Manager TotalChoice Hosting, L.L.C AOL - tchguruandy Yahoo - tchguruandy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rate this ticket: Helpful Not Helpful Ticket ID: OJS-98488 Tracking URL (check the status or reply to this ticket online) Click Here Department: Technical Support Created On: 01 Mar 2007 2:07 pm Last Update: 13 Mar 2007 11:24 am Status: On Hold Not satisfied with the support you are receiving? I am posting this in attempt to reach someone at tch who can take ownership of this problem and COMMUNICATE with me on timely basis. The website in question is mission critical to my business. I would just like ti restored to the way it was on March 22. Thank you. Please help. Bill Haas Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Welcome to the forum, Bill. Unfortunately, there isn´t much we can do about this here in the forum. We mods have no access to the helpdesk or your account/details and the techs does not check the forum as often as we do. So I would like to ask you to try contacting them either through the live chat or by their instant messengers. On this page you will find all the contact information. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Welcome to the forum Bill It's an unfortunate position. You had a contract with someone (not us) to host your web site. They decided to stop hosting, and cancel the reseller account they had with us. When they cancelled the reseller account - all data was removed. If you have a backup, we will happily restore it for you. Unfortunately, we do not have a backup of your account, because you were not a customer of ours, and the reseller (who was a customer) cancelled the account. I tried calling, but you were not there, so I left a voice message, I'm afraid that says the same thing - we do not have a backup, but if you have one we can restore it for you. You can IM me, or any of the other TCH staff from the list of contacts - as Thomas says. Quote
Deverill Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Boy that really stinks, Bill. As a reseller/web designer it really burns me up when people do their clients badly like that! (Don't contact me to do your site - I'm booked solid and it's against the rules of the forum ) One thing I can think of that may help is a pseudo backup that's done of "the internet" by the Internet Wayback Machine at archive.org - you can go there and put in your old URL and they may have a snapshot of your site. It's a long way from a proper backup but you, or a web-expert you deal with, may be able to salvage part of your site at least. They are very spotty and don't save all pages so depending on your site it may be anywhere from great to no help. Depending on your situation (contracts, etc) you may have some legal recourse against the reseller that did this to you as well, but that's far outside my realm so I'll leave it at that. Best wishes on getting up and functioning quickly though! Quote
TCH-Andy Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Our mystical owner Bill Kish, worked his magic - and managed to find you something that is a year old ... but hopefully a big help. Quote
