tamiep Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I installed SMF, everything seemed fine. Then today I tried to get in and get "page cannot be found" I went back in an did the permission change like they said -- the install file was still there but I had renamed it -- changed that back, just in case. And nothing. My site is Freesources Recycling Network I'm not a programmer, obviously, so I'm just baffled. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Is there a file in your forum folder called index.htm or index.html? Quote
tamiep Posted November 29, 2006 Author Posted November 29, 2006 Hello, No, I see files that say index.php in various places in the forum folder. Quote
GvilleRick Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Filenames and folder names are case sensitive in linux. It looks like your folder is called Forum and not forum. I see the forum at http://www.freesourcesrn.org/Forum/. Quote
TCH-Don Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 make sure you delete that install.php file Quote
tamiep Posted November 29, 2006 Author Posted November 29, 2006 (edited) Forum vs forum Hey, you're pretty smart! OH CRAP! And when I change it to lower case I get an error on the page saying the theme file is incorrect. Any advice? I'd rather it not be a cap. Edited November 29, 2006 by tamiep Quote
tamiep Posted November 29, 2006 Author Posted November 29, 2006 make sure you delete that install.php file Thank you! I'll do that. Quote
carbonize Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 To fix the error messages you need to login to admin and change the path names in many many places (trust me i renamed the folder once and then spent ages changing it in admin in about 10 places). Why not just stick with Forum and change any links to it? Quote

PeterPeter Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 tamiep, How much have you done with SMF, if it isn't a lot, I would suggested removing it completely and reinstall it and keep all words in lowercase, that way nothing gets confused with links etc. I know that isn't what you want to do, but it would resolve the whole issue as well. Or do the other choice suggested above. Quote
