Greetings!

In an effort to watch for spyware and adware I have installed some software:

-Spybot

-SpywareBlasters

I might have done it too late.

I clean my computer cache and cookies almost every day.

I run Spybot, and SpywareBlasters is more of a "firewall" for spyware.

Using Norton SystemWorks 2006, I clean the temp files.

There are always 8 temp files that cannot be removed, and this concerns me.

Here they are:

ZLT01320.TMP

ZLT01319.TMP

Perflib_Perfdata_510.dat

mso2AF.htm

IEC1.tmp

mso2AF.htm

IEC1.tmp

NPJPI150_06.dll

Does anyone recognize any of these files to be dangerous? :D

Shouldn't I be able to remove all of my temp files from the folder?

If these need to go, it may be I'll need to reformat my hard drive.

Any insight on this would be great.

Regards,

Don´t know about the the other files but "Perflib_Perfdata_510.dat", is something that Norton creates I think.

I have Norton too and I can´t delete the Perflib_Perfdata file, but the next time I start my computer, the Perflib_Perfdata file is gone.

Try delete your temp files this way and see if it works:

1. Open My computer

2. In the address bar type %temp%

3. Highlight all files except the Perflib_Perfdata file (it will not allow to be deleted anyway).

4. Hit the "Delete" key

5. Reboot

6. Redo step 1 & 2 and see if all files are gone

Hi Thomas!

I feel like a real idiot, but when I open "My Computer", I don't see an address bar.

I am sure as soon as I post this reply, I'll find it. That's the way it usually works for me. :D

I'll try a few different things with %temp%.

Thanks for your attention on this for me.

You are always a great support!

I'll get to the bottom of this.

April

Thomas!

Here is a progress report:

I went to "Run" and typed in "%temp%".

It brought up 8 files and I was able to delete all of them.

I then ran Norton and have only 3 temp files now that will not be removed.

One of them is the "Perflib_Perfdata_510.dat".

Thanks,

April

You might need to make it visible for it to show.

To make it visible, right-click on a blank space just after the buttons for back, forward, up, search... then uncheck the "lock toolbar".

Good. :)

Which are the 3 that are left? It might just be random files that your computer/windows create on start up, but are deleted when shutting down.

The Perflib_Perfdata file I wouldn´t worry about if your virus/spyware scans says you are safe.

I would not worry about any of thoose files, they are all safe files and I have quite a few temp files I can't delete either. Virus and spy do not pick them up so I don't worry!
