QueenTiye
Is there a way for me to give someone user access to cPanel only specific folders? I created a subdomain and gave someone FTP access to that domain only, but he now says he can only upload and download stuff - he can't get in and around to do anything with the files - which ultimately defeats the purpose of me setting up the subdomain, which was intended as a workout/testing area before trying new stuff on my live site. Help? QT
TCH-Rick
There can only be one cPanel login with an account. It is not possible to have a second login restricted to certain folders. Creating an FTP account is the only way to grant access to specific folders. I'm not sure what you mean by "do anything to the files." If you create an FTP account and the party logs in using an FTP program they can upload, download, change permissions, etc.
QueenTiye
I don't know what he wants to do either. That's the problem with being tech unsavvy. Let me see what I can figure out. QT
Just_Rob
Just have him make changes on his local copy and upload them after he makes the changes. There should be no need for him to have greater access as he can still work within his alloted space this way. Get more information though and we can see if there is a way to do what he wants without giving further access to him.
QueenTiye
Well - let me explain what happened. I asked him to help me with my SMF forum - he will be helping me with the SMF arcade install and also with a new theme installation and such. He stated that he didn't want to download too many things to his hard drive so I offered to set him up with his own space to work from. I think we are disconnecting because I didn't install an SMF forum there. That's got to be the problem... whereas I thought he was going to do so!
