seannyc Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 I was just curious how "secure" password protecting a directory through the webprotect option in cpanel is? Is this some form of the permissions settings that have been discussed previously? Assuming that whatever I'm protecting is not necessarily critical, is this good enough to prevent the average web surfer from getting in? thanks Quote
TCH-Rob Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 Any password protection is only as secure as the password you are using. At the verry least if you use a combination of letters and numbers you will keep the average user from guessing. I use it and have never had an issue. Quote
TCH-JimE Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 Hi, Its as sercue as your going to get without spending serious amounts of cash. Keep your passwords longer the 8 letters, and make sure it includes minimum of 2 numbers and 1 character. Make sure its not a name, place or anything which can connect to you personnelly. Jim Quote
