it usually takes about 60 days for a domain name that has recently expired to become available, you can backorder it (to make sure you get it, unless of course someone backordered it before you) by clicking Here

Dont forget, if it is a .com or . net there is a 35 day redemption put out by the registry. This gives the initial owner a chance to get it back, at a steep price though. If you are able to back order on this system it means no others have backordered from the registrar TCH is using. It does not mean no other registrar has somebody backordering it. The registrar TCH uses checks the registry at 10 am and 10 pm, the exact time the registry updates. As soon as the backorder system sees an update it will let you know via email that a change was made and if that change involves the domain being deleted from the registry and put out to the public it will immediately try and register it for you.

The system works well. I have seen a 97% success rate.

Good luck.
