Spinland Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 Head Bash The how-tos and documentation for setting up a password-protected ftp account under my domain seem very straightforward and easy to follow; that's probably exactly why I'm having so much trouble! Okay, let's say I want to open an ftp account for user id bozo and require a password to access it. I've gone to the ftp manager section of the cpanel and created an account, both with and without first having created a subdomain to match (such as bozo.mydomain.biz). Everything looks good until I actually try to access the account. I've tried both a client (leechftp) and web browser access. I've tried: bozo.mydomain.biz bozo@mydomain.biz ftp.mydomain.biz with userid bozo and password mypassword I've tried similar efforts with ftp://and so on... In all cases it recognized the subdomain and/or the main domain, but always bombs saying the user id and/or password is invalid. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance! Spinny Quote
TCH-Rick Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 In your ftp client use the following: FTP Host: ftp.yourdomain.biz Username: bozo@yourdomain.biz Password: Assigned Password If you have an option to select Passive mode I recommend using it as well. Quote
Guest twelves Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 Can the URL be set up as clickable in Explorer? anonymous@12string.net How to make that into a clickiable URL for Explorer? Not a ftp client. thanks! For uploads of band songs. Make sure that you connect to ftp.12string.net with your ftp client, or you may not be able to login. But I need it in Explorer. Thanks!!!!! Quote
leezard Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 for a clickable link use ftp://www.12string.net once that page opens click file>log on as and enter username and password Quote
