What operating system are you using?

On XP the command would be

>CONVERT C: /fs:ntfs

(assuming you wanted to convert the CD drive, and could boot far enough to get into XP and then the command prompt).

Why do you want to convert it though? Is it for security reasons? Or just because it wants to check the c: drive on bootup, because of an error somewhere ?

hmmm your code there, is what i used in XP home (from what it says in the "windows help center")

it simply did nothing and return me to a new line "c:>"

and im converting as XP keeps putting this annoying blue screen wanting to check "disk consistancy" every time, even if i have ran the check before.

its more of a just "i want rid of this stupid blue screen"

oh good god...

it's worked and im worried at my message lol

'convert cannot run because the volume is in use by another process, convert may run if the volum eis dismounted first"

and it asks Y/N sdo i want to dismount, well force a dismount

I may be wrong - it's been awhile, but for things like this you often have to boot off of a different drive than the one you are trying to manipulate. I doubt it would dismount the boot drive... but again, I could be wrong.

Last time I had to do this, after running the command I was informed that the conversion would not take place until the system was rebooted. So perhaps this "disk check" you're seeing on boot-up is actually the conversion trying to run... because it'll run at boot before the rest of the OS has a chance to load up.
