This is the first time I've managed a website with cpanel, my first attempt at using linux-servers, and my first attempt at using Gallery software... so the learning curve is huge. I'm not a novice computer user, I'm just not a programmer. Give me working hardware and software, and I can turn out something lovely.

But I'm stumped in cpanel -- I've managed to update my password. Is there any way to set my primary login ID to something recognizable for myself, or am I stuck with the random-generator ID I was first assigned when I signed up with TCH?

Copy/paste is a good thing, but I'd hate to be tied to a user ID if there was a way to change it.

Thanks folks!

Hello Cat and welcome to the forums. :D

I'm sorry but we do not allow you to change your cPanel username. If you need help remembering usernames and passwords I would recommend getting a password safe such as KeePass.

Welcome to the forums and the family Cat :D

The computer generated user name is for your own protection to prevent hackers from guessing your user name.

A password program like Keepass or anypassword is a great idea.

I use AnyPassword to keep my passwords and find it simple and easy :)

Thanks everyone (anyone ever mention that you seem to one-line excessively your welcomes? *grin*) ... I have my own tracking (encrypted, of course) for all my IDs and passwords, so since the answer is just "Nope, you have to keep the random-generated ID" then I'll just manage.

Now, off to search for more information on why Gallery isn't behaving for me. *grumble*
