Where Do I Find Server Info?

I would like to set up a local test environment similar to the one I will have at TCH. Where can I find info on what software the servers are running. RedHat version? Apache version? etc...

P.S. The reason is because I would like to play around with some different tweaks to my site without affecting the actual site, without using my transfer bandwidth, and without having to wait for my slow dialup! :-)

You can find most of that information in your cPanel. Look down the left hand column. It should all be there.

Thanks. I am writing this post from work and they block port 2082 so I could not check to see if the info was there. I'll look at it when I get home. Thanks again!

You might be interested in your own Apache server

to develop your site on your computer.

Many of us use this to create and modify our sites locally first

then upload when finished.

 

XAMPP is an easy to install Apache distribution containing MySQL, PHP and Perl

 

Its easy to install and use.

If you do install Xampp

just create a folder below htdocs

and point your browser to http://localhost/folder to see your site.

Main thing is to use Apache 1.3.x, and (if you use PHP), PHP 4.4.x, and mysql 4.1.x, and you'll be pretty much covered (or whatever language you are writing your apps in). The rest should not make a significant difference.
