svl2706 Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Hi guys, I've got a trivial question for you guys, the gurus ... I try to access my ftp account using a regular ftp client. When I'm hoe through my DSL line it works perfectly, I use it all the time. But during the day, I'm in the office and my customer's firewall doesn't seem to allow any traffic on port 21 (the ftp client can't connect). So my question is: Is it possible to connect to my ftp account (ftp.mywebsite.com) through another port? Thanks for your help!!! Cheers Stéphane Quote
Madmanmcp Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 ftp on port 21 is usually blocked by most companies. You can try file manager in cpanel to upload files, cpanel uses port 2082 or 2083. Quote
svl2706 Posted March 23, 2006 Author Posted March 23, 2006 Thanks Bob for your answer. Cpanel does work but is not really nice to use for regular ftp maintenance... So according to you, it's not possible to access my ftp account with a ftp client through another port that could be open on the firewall? Cheers Stéphane Quote
TCH-JimE Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Hello, Madmancp is correct, we can not open another port for your FTP. Is there any chance your customer can change his firewall? JimE Quote
svl2706 Posted March 24, 2006 Author Posted March 24, 2006 Since it's a +45.000 employee energy company and I'm just a contractor there, I doubt they will change it for me ) But any way, thanks a lot for your feed-back, Stéphane Quote
