I am very concerned and a little confused. All the data from the last 3 days on my site has disappeared at first I thought it was some strange data base error on my forum but when I checked a couple files that I had uploaded to a directory yesterday they are gone too. When I check my awstats I see no traffic for those 3 days. I know there was traffic during those days I used the site my self those days and I am receiving emails about missing post on the site.

Rick,

Open a ticket at the help desk (link at the top of the page) and we'll take a look, there is nothing we can do via the forum (as we need to know your domain name, access details etc)

Yes I had posted a ticket and I found what the problem was I was on server 42 it was having errors TCH replaced it with one on the new raid hard drive arrays in the process had to use a 3 day old backup. Good that it on a raid array now this should prevent these kind of troubles in the future

If this were to happen again in the future I think TCH should send out a email to everyone on the affected server letting them know what happened and especially if there is any advanced notice so I could run a extra backup or at least let my customers know what’s going on.

Harware failures do occur. Not very often but they do happen. There was no time to send an email to all customers of the server when the drive started failing but the server forum was updated as to what had happened and what was being done to restore service.

Everyone should subscribe to the proper forum for the server they are on. When ever something happens with a server these forums are updated.

Also, it is ultimately the responsibility of each user to maintain backups of their accounts.

Just for curiosity's sake, I have a question.

When TCH backs up the server, is the server backup stored in the same datacenter as the server itself?

I guess what I'm wondering is if the whole entire datacenter were destryed by some act of nature or terrorism (say, heaven-forbid, another Katrina-like storm, or an earthquake or something), would TCH have any way to restore the data to a different server in a different datacenter?

The answer to this question could affect how often I do a whole-site backup.

Well I understand. And I make daily backups of my databases. But I was just courious about the other stuff in the home directory that I'm only backing up on a monthly basis (including all my mail stuff and forwarders and stuff.)

It seems like it would take a lot of bandwith and server power to generate and then download full site backups daily.

But if the datacenter were per chance destroyed completley and ALL data was lost, then I'd be more likely to do a full site backup more frenquently than monthly.

However, knowing that there are onsite and offiste backups, and knowing that I'm backing up my databases on a daily basis, I feel secure in only doing a full-site backup from cPanel on a monthly basis.

I recognize that backing up data is my responsibility as a site owner. I just wondered what might happen in a worst-case scenario.

Thanks Andy, for your reply.

I certainly do weekly backups and I understand if the problem started happening too quickly TCH did not have time to send out emails before but how about after the fact just a suggestion I was stumped to what could have happened until I opened a ticket and got the answer some others out there might have more trouble allso.

I have joined the forum for server 342 along with 61 and 382 for my other sites I did not know there was such a thing until now this should keep me informed in the future.

I have the same issue with server 32. I've been enlisted to the server forums and have never received an email ever. My Awstats for one account on that server ends on 1/19. My other accounts show data. I to know that there has been traffic. I will open a ticket.

I don't care about the lost stats, but I'd like to see the stats resume again. Thanks.
