Guest GuestJeffGuest Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I'm interested in getting the silver shared hosting package. I was wondering if you guys currently host any adult content sites on your shared hosting servers? Due to the large amount of filters blocking adult content on the internet, I was wondering if this would affect the availability of my site (which would contain no adult content what-so-ever) if it were to be on one of your servers that hosts adult content? With reguards to purchasing a domain... Am I at a large risk if I do not purchase the additional privacy package ($9/month)? Quote
cajunman4life Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 TCH does not allow hosting of adult content. So you needn't worry about that affecting your site hosted here. As for the domain privacy, I don't have it, and the only adverse effects are once a year I get a mailing from some other company offering to renew my domain for me for $30/year (which is about 3 times what I pay). TCH-Bruce Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 TCH does allow the hosting of adult content but you don't need to concern yourself with it because an adult site like you are worried about would use up their bandwidth very quickly so they won't host here anyway. Also sites are banned on content and not an IP range so your site would most likely not be affected. The acceptable use policy states the following: TotalChoice Hosting does not permit any site that contains: (i) images (including on banner ads) of nude models that appear to be under the age of 18 (in TotalChoice Hosting's sole judgment), (ii) sexually explicit images (including on banner ads) of models that appear to be under the age of 18 (in TotalChoice Hosting's sole judgment); or (iii) sites containing language promoting child pornography together with any sexually explicit or nude images. As required by federal law in the United States, TotalChoice Hosting will report all offenders of this policy to the appropriate federal agency. Quote
Guest GuestJeffGuest Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Have you guys ever had clients experiencing problems because of other another client's objectionable content? Quote
Deverill Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 In the time I've been here I've never seen the kind of problem you are asking about causing problems. If it's legal then it's ok. If it's a burden on the server and thus other clients then it is moved to a dedicated server or moved. If it spams it gets deleted. If it's illegal it's deleted. Pretty much, the mindset of Bill (the owner) and management is that if it impacts other clients it either has to move or be deleted. Definitely a case of "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few... or the one." when it comes to websites affecting other clients. One site wreaking havoc on or for others will not be allowed. Quote

MikeJ Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 do u allow bittorrent Trackers to be hosted on your Site ? The use of Bit Torrent Trackers are allowed as long as the content is legal I'll add, though, that bittorrent trackers, especially if they are even remotely popular, are pretty database intensive so if you do use a legal bittorrent tracker and it causes too much load on the server, we may ask you to remove it or find a way to tone it down.
