ENASNI TILLER Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 Anyone know the steps I need to take? Or maybe a easy to use website? I want to copyright my Website name. Quote
TweezerMan Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 1) There are no steps to take - once something that can be copyrighted has been created, it is automatically protected by copyright. 2) You cannot claim a copyright on a web site name, as "names, titles, and short phrases or expressions are not subject to copyright protection". ace Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 (edited) Yes that is right to some degree. Any written form of communication is protected to a certain degree automatically. However if published without an offical copyright it maybe challenged and one stands to loose their work if it goes to court. Remember the best way is to "offically copyright". Now as far as websites go please look at h___ps://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/copyright/landing_choice.asp?se=%2B&ci=282. If you need further assistance trying goggling "copyright laws" Just my 2 cents...hope that help. Thanks Edited November 18, 2005 by ace Quote
Head Guru Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 David hit it right on the head. However, names and the like can be issued a mark. The Trademark can than be used to protect names from infringements. When discussing names "service mark" is used. A service mark is the same as a trademark, except that it identifies and distinguishes the source of a service rather than a product A copyright protects an original artistic or literary work. Quote
