Getting ready to switch hosts, but I always try to be very careful about this sort of thing.

May I ask exactly what is transferred if I ask for my site (which does have cPanel currently) to be transferred to TCH? My main concern is my MySQL database, which houses the main content of my site. Will I have to back that up and restore it myself, or does the cPanel transfer take care of that too?

stupid little thing, but -- When it comes to file transfers, will the file permissions (chmod) be kept, or will those need to be set again?

It's not a problem if either answer is "no," but I'm curious, and I like to be informed before I make a switch

Thanks so much.

Welcome to the forums Amanda.

For these types of questions it would be better to ask the support desk to get a correct answer. The moderators of this forum are not TCH tech personnel and I would hate to give you a wrong answer.

Welcome to the forums, Amanda :thumbup1:

Normally the cpanel transfers made by the techs will copy your site files,

including e-mail and also databases.

It does not always work, but most of the time its fine.

You can also make your own backup

in cpanel > backup

look for

Home Directory

Download a home directory Backup

that's all your files in a compressed file

then look for

Download a MySQL Database Backup

and download all your databases.

And if you have filters or forwards

Download Aliases or Filters Backup

If you look on the right you will see where you can later upload the backups

in your cpanel.

You will need to edit any database connections to reflect your

tch-username_ databasename

and

tch-username_databaseuser.

I can't answer if the permissions in the transfer will stay the same,

a help ticket (link at top of page) will get you that answer.
