ictus Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Our site has been banned in China, my members over there just get a can't be found and bumped to a search page. We are a roleplaying site, so not exactly political. Has anyone else had problems, as they usually ban IPs so there will be quite a few sites down. Quote
Deverill Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 No problems for me, but then again, my audience is not from China. Their government is very strange/strict on their internet usage and it would not surprise me if they banned every non-government-run site. It's good to know but bad to hear, Ictus. Guess that's why the "Land of the Free" is the place for me. Quote
ictus Posted September 18, 2005 Author Posted September 18, 2005 That's too right. I could never live under such silly rules, the irony is on our off topic forums there is a quite a bit of negative talk about the bush administration, and I could never imagine the US banning us for that, yet we've never even mentioned China till they banned us. We do fantasy roleplaying, not political subversion, crazy... Perhaps it's our freedom of speech policy Quote
MikeJ Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Well, you are also talking about the country that is forcing online gaming companies that host in China to limit online usage to 3-hours at a time (GameSpot Article). As well as one that at least in some areas (according to my brother who lives in China) bans the use of HTTPS protocol (encryption) because they can't monitor it. Quote
