  1. I had it too, several files over several sites, I fixed it manual.
  2. found the problem, it wasn't google as such. I'd not deleted a Joomlaboard forum, and as I had no link to it anywhere thought nothing of it. It was a test board, as the client wanted simple, I got them to go with SMF in the end. Anyway there where 600 posts about all kinds of iffy stuff, as there was no restriction for membership. So google was hitting lots and lots of links, they have now been deleted along with the extension, so I'll see how it goes.
  3. it's a small test site using Joomla, my main site which is quite a big forum gets about 400mb a month. they are very similar and have the same plugins but one has a variety of BBC news feeds, could this be an issue? at the end of the day I need google hits but is there a way to make things less intence? main site rpgrm.com 400mb new site lnwa.net over 1gb
  4. if google is hitting 1gb bandwidth, do you think that is cause for concern?
  5. Thankyou.... looks like something was wrong my end, fixed it now and found the bits I needed.
  6. I tried just editing the test.html. as soon as I change a field name, such as message to address and test it it say required field message not filled in, and I can' find anywhere where the required fields are defined, even a search for 'message' reveals nothing. In short i have lost my rag with this programme as it isn't very intuitive. So are there any other I can use that don't charge for this privileged?
  7. yep, the test form unmodified work fine, as soone as I make changes I get the error, it most be something daft I'm doing.
  8. I may have found the problem, but I still can't get it to work. I created a form, using dreamweaver, added dodoesmail.php as the action then unploaded it to test. I get this error: DodosMail Error - the required field is not filled. Back yet i haven't made any of the fields required, any ideas. fiddling with the test form gives me the same result, so i don't know where the problem is.
  9. It is dodos mail Found the problem, there's an extra # in the code before the your email = bit, I just removed that and it works perfectly. I only spotted it when I went to copy it into here, silly me. Thanks for the help.
  10. I'm trying to settup a basic form to capture quote requests by email, after reading some threads I choose to use Dodo, unfortunatly I can't get it to work. I've uploaded the php file and the test.html, changed the email in the php as indicated, I fill out the form then get this error when I submit it: DodosMail Error - the owner's server is experiencing techinical difficulties. Please email use to send your email. Any ideas? and no I'm not technical
  11. the internet can be a small place, that was my question on SMF community forums. I'll try what they say but I'll make it 1, as time isn't a problem I just need to send them out. Thanks as ever guy.
  12. When I had IPB I could set the number of emails and period between them is there any way of doing something like that with SMF, otherwise I can't send my newsletters out. My php isn't so good, so go easy on me if it's a coding thing.
  13. I'm using the .htaccess TCH set, I have tried <IfModule mod_security.c> # Turn off mod_security filtering. SMF is a big boy, it doesn't need its hands held. SecFilterEngine Off # The below probably isn't needed, but better safe than sorry. SecFilterScanPOST Off </IfModule> and the fix on this forum, but I get a 500 error, it only seems to be a few users having the problem, so i'm at a loss as to how to solve it.
  14. I'm having problems with mod_security on my SMF forum, I have a few members who get access errors when posting, but the fixes I've found just break the whole site. If I delete the www root .htaccess file will that cause me big problems?
  15. Thanks, it doesn't sound like the kind of package I'm looking for, which is a shame as I know what this place can do, I'll look at one of the white label style offerings. But if I don't like what I see I'll just go for paying for a copanies first year of space here and leaving the rest to them, as I don't want my clients upset with bad hosting, and I know the hosting is very good here. as a side question, can I pay for hosting a basic account for one year for someone else, then remove my payment info so it isn't renewed using my details?
  16. Hi, I'm looking at a resellers account and have some very newbie questions. 1. How is payment taken for the accounts I host, ie do you handle all that side using automatic systems? 2. Can I set up accounts that would be free for the first 12 months that would then need payment to renew? 3. If there is a problem with the customers account is it TCH or myself that has to sort it out? 4. If I decide at some point to stop being a reseller, what can be done for any existing users? 5. Can I brand the reseller account? That's all for now
  17. I've gone through a bad time deciding between IPB 2.1 and SMF I discounted phpBB due to all the messing and poor member controls. I discounted vB as you have to pay anually so you never really own it. SMF is very good, it does a lot of things IPB doesn't do, however I had to do code changes on each upgrade as it doesn't like working with TCH servers, don't know why but it wont. However it's big issue was that by default it shows members email addresses to all, and this can only be changed through editing the MySQL, which was the last straw. So IPB, out of the box work, does all I want it to do, and is easy to edit, yes it costs money, but I think it's been worth it. However our community is 500 strong, with 100,000 page views per month, so that justifies it. For a small community SMF is great, it just needs a little tweeking.
  18. Yep, the chat is being worked on, I lost Flashchat when I upgraded the portal, need to put it back. OK, I have a couple of IP addresses 73.41.96.1 That is the first one after I get through my network Perhaps if they can do a backward trace and see if it gets locked up at the one I did. That number is 70.103.1.62 He is getting a time out error rather than access denied, which makes it even odder...
  19. I'll email the request on and let you know the responce - thanks
  20. It's 4 people one in the UK 3 in the states, using it from work, one of the guys in the states got his IT department to get it working, the IT guys got it working there end but couldn't make it work for him. I lost China 6 months back where I had some very active members. I tried SMF for a time and that was really bad, working differently for different people, something to do with the server set up this end and .htaccess files or something. The error is Access Denied, which makes it seem that their security software if taking it out, yet it used to work for all of them till I upgraded IPB, which is why I want to see if the same configuration is being used by someone else here, then I can see if it's software, router or their security software. And yes I know how barmy routing can get, we have a Yahoo page that has been updated for lnwa.org but on Mac running through BT they see the old one and have for 4 months, on PCs no problem and on Mac on other providers no problems, so I know it's not an exact science, I just want to run down as many possabilities as possible Thanks for all your held to date
  21. Recently I have had problems with several members of my forums not being able to access my site. it's a IPB2.1.4 forum inside MKportal, though I have just tied viewing outside the portal same problem. I am concerned that it may be a hosting issue, so is anyone else using the same set up, that way I can point people there to check, if they work then it's my site, if not then I may have to move hosting, which would be a crying shame as this is the best place I've found. Thanks in advance.
  22. That's too right. I could never live under such silly rules, the irony is on our off topic forums there is a quite a bit of negative talk about the bush administration, and I could never imagine the US banning us for that, yet we've never even mentioned China till they banned us. We do fantasy roleplaying, not political subversion, crazy... Perhaps it's our freedom of speech policy
  23. Our site has been banned in China, my members over there just get a can't be found and bumped to a search page. We are a roleplaying site, so not exactly political. Has anyone else had problems, as they usually ban IPs so there will be quite a few sites down.
  24. there was no .htaccess file, when I added the one suggested on the SMF forums, it crashed it. which means it's the global .htaccess on my domain... oh, got an idea, perhaps it's not the same as everyone elses as it was a site upload.... back to my job ticket...
  25. OK, Tec support can't help, so I'm wondering if anyone else can. I've installed SMF in a sub-domain of my forum, it works great, except when trying to change permissions and a few other similar bits. I get this error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /oicforum/index.php on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. now tracking it down the error seems to be 403 not 404, and on SMFs forums they have a fix as it's something to do with server permisions, however the fix doesn't work, and being a shared host understandably TCH wont relax access permissions. But it sounds like other people are using SMF on this server just fine, I tried instalingit in the main domain as well just to see if that was the problem. Any help would be much appreciated thanks...
