It appears to me that AwStats, accessible via Cpanel, updates stats only once a day, shortly after midnight.

Am I wrong about this?

I hope so, because I often need to figure out which sites are referring to my blog in the last hour or two, rather than which ones did so yesterday.

Thanks in advance for any help folks can offer.

awStats runs at about that time as it is server intensive. If it were run more often then you might see degradation in the performance of your website as it would be using all of the resources that could be used for serving your website.

Depending on which blogging software you are using, you can probably find a plugin that will track referrers without requiring you to run awstats every hour.

I know I've seen some WordPress blogs that track referrs to the blog, so I know this is possible somehow. (These were WP blogs hosted by TCH).

You could try this.

Go inot CPanel > Web/FTP Stats > Latest Visitors

This will show you the last 300 visitors who came to your site and some interesting information about them.

It doesn't really give you the last 300 visitors, it gives you the last 300 hits. However, this might be workable for you.

Or you could go into Raw Access Logs, Save to your Hard Drive, Open with Winzip > right click on yourdomainname.com > View with internal viewer. View the activity from the bottom of the page up. Once you are viewing with the internal viewer, you can "Clipboard Copy" and paste the copy into Excel.
