I have a situation where I have set up 2 email addresses, one for myself and one for my client. I want all mail sent to me@**** to be forwarded to my primary email address, and all mail sent to her@**** to be forwarded to her personal address. The trouble is that my client is on AOL and has an AOL address. Mine works ok, however her forward funciton gets deleted all the time. I just noted that you should not use the forwarder to send to and AOL account. How can I get around this? I am very confused about these mail accounts! The only way that I can see it working properly is to leave her mail account on TCH and have her access it through Hord. The trouble is that I can't seem to figure out what her url to her account would be. Loren

Thanks for the trouble you put yourselves throught, guy's. So I guess it can't be done! When you read all of the stuff about AOL and some others that use there own Cache, can you understand why I might want to do this? Perhaps there is something else I can do.. Loren

I was reading an article from the following site http://webmaster.info.aol.com/caching.html , wherein it states the following: The following HTTP headers are used by AOL's cache to determine an object's cacheability. Web Servers can be configured to return the appropriate HTTP headers for the caching behavior you determine to be appropriate. This functionality can be used by a webmaster who may prefer to cache only pieces of their web site. The specific information for configuring a web server is server-dependent. IMPORTANT NOTE: AOL's proxy system does not read HTML. Use of the META HTTP-EQUIV tags in the content of web pages (in either HEAD or BODY) does not control the behavior of AOL's proxy caches. I would like to put the following code somewhere, but not sure where, to prevent AOL from caching my pages. This code will only allow the viewers PC to cache the page. Cache-Control: private This object can be stored in the requesting browser´s cache but not in a shared cache ... Or I could use this one. Cache-Control: no-cache This object may be held in any cache but it must be revalidated every time it is requested. But where do I put this code. It can't be in my HTML code but must reside somewhere on the server. My client can't view her site using AOL even after the refresh period of 24 hours, at which time AOL is supposed to refresh the cache. Thanks: Loren

You could try this. Go inot CPanel > Web/FTP Stats > Latest Visitors This will show you the last 300 visitors who came to your site and some interesting information about them. It doesn't really give you the last 300 visitors, it gives you the last 300 hits. However, this might be workable for you. Or you could go into Raw Access Logs, Save to your Hard Drive, Open with Winzip > right click on yourdomainname.com > View with internal viewer. View the activity from the bottom of the page up. Once you are viewing with the internal viewer, you can "Clipboard Copy" and paste the copy into Excel. Loren

I just downloaded my Raw Access Logs and found that 2 things have changed. The logs appear to be in real time and the download extension has been changed from tar to gz, which is just great. No need to rename the tar extension aymore for Winzip. Is this to stay this way or is this just a quirk for the day. I sure hope it stays, and if it does, it's a great improvement and Koodos to the Crew at TotalChoice. Loren

Thanks Bruce I used the Winzip internal viewer and then copied all of the line items for the date in question over to Excel. I couldn't really find anything unusual. This could be a simple error in the stats. As an example, I will use the site that I did not modify on the 20th. 19th - 40 visitors, 166 Page views, 2730 hits, 12.89 MB 20th - 43 visitors, 914 Page views, 3324 hits, 30.35 MB 21st - 27 visitors, 126 Page views, 2238 hits, 10.32 MB If there were in fact 914 Page views on the 20th, I would think that the hits would go up in direct relationship to the page views. The stats that I recorded for the 20th do not show any hits on the new sitemap.xml file, however, Google hit on this file several times on the 21st. My initial comment therefore doesn't hold water. Interesting, isn't it. Loren

I got it open by renaming the file .tar.gz and the file was domainname.com. I right clicked on it and opened it with notepad. Now I have to try to figure out how to read the info. 21 days of site activity is something to behold. Once I narrow it down to the 20th and 21st, I may be able to work with it. It looks like each line starts with a date and time so that should help. Thanks for the assistance, I'm sure I will be back. Regards: Loren

When I download it I get .tar file when it should be .tar.gz, I think. I change the name to .tar.gz and Winzip opened it and inside is a file called domainname.com and you say it should be a .txt file. I must be doing something wrong. Loren

Thanks for the Welcoming remarks everyone. To this point all I have done from the cPanel is use the File Manager, Password Protect and a couple of minor other things. There is a lot there and as usual with anything, a lot to learn. I downloaded my access log, as suggested by David, for one of my sites and when I try to open it with WinZip I get the following error: Error reading header after processing. I know that WinZip handles .tar files so I am a at a bit of a loss here. Loren

Just for this very reason, I removed my Guestbook from one of my sites. Once it starts it multiplies exponentialy, however, I left the AVG on my other site which started getting slammed. What I did was restrict the word length for the message body to 30 chr. The spammers were coming in and stating something like "Very nice site! followed by perhaps 10 URL's. As it turns out, on average a URL exceeds 30 chr. They have not come back in 3 weeks since I made the change. An error message will appear on the screen and block the input. Loren

Thanks for the Welcome. It could be, but I would expect to have seen some Google results if they looked at an estimated 30 MB of download. Loren

I have 2 sites on Total Choice both with a relatively small number of visits, 20-30 for 1 site and 40-60 for the other per day. The page loads have been coming in at about 160 and 200 respectively for these sites, however yesterday, with relatively the same number of visits I had 5 times the normal page loads, both in at about 1,000. (these sites are 30 and 40 pages respectively) The only change that I made was to insert the new Google sitemap.xml to both of the sites. Is it possible that Google came in 4 times, looked at all of my pages, but didn't show up as a spider visitor, or is it possible that Google plus a few more engines came in and used the same file, again not showing up as spider visitors. The 3 major engines came to the site last night but show only very minor acitivity. For one one of the sites Inktomi looked at 5 pages and .13MB, MSN 0, and Google 4 pages and 11k. On the other site Inktomi looked at 15 pages at .59MB, MSN 1 page and .06MB and Google 5 pages and .07MB. The only other possibility that I can think of is that someone came in and just started flipping pages, but to do that to both sites would seem very coincidenal. Any ideas? Regards: Loren
