marie b. Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 (edited) I keep receiving the following message whenever I try to email someone. I can comment fine, and receive their replies perfectly. However, whenenever I try to reply I immediately get this error : SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT TO:<xpersonsemailx@xpersonsdomainx>: host xpersonsdomainx: 550-server92.totalchoicehosting.com is currently not permitted 550-to relay through this server. Perhaps you have not logged into the pop/imap 550-server in the last 30 minutes or do not have SMTP Authentication turned on 550 in your email client. I can email other people with no issues whatsoever, so authentication isn't an issue. Edited July 27, 2005 by marie b. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I am not sure if these are correct, but I found 3 possible reasons for error 550. Please see this page if any of them make sense (about half way down the page). Quote
marie b. Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 Sending an email to recipients outside of your domain are not allowed or your mail server does not know that you have access to use it for relaying messages and authentication is required. Or to prevent the sending of SPAM some mail servers will not allow (relay) send mail to any e-mail using another company’s network and computer resources. This seems to be the only one that could apply out of the three. Quote
TCH-Rick Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 You should check your email client and be sure that "My Server Requires Authentication" is checked (this is the phrase that is used in Outlook/Outlook Express.) If the problem persists you should submit a Help Desk ticket and include the username/password for the email account so that we can test. Quote
marie b. Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 I tried to send the email one more time - just in case - and I haven't received an error so far. I've ticked the Authentication box even still, but I'm just wondering why I couldn't send her anything but could email other people with no issues. Quote
