musicfrisk Posted May 17, 2003 Posted May 17, 2003 every thing I see and read everywhere talks about optimizing a site ---but what if you are looking to optimize certain pages in different ways? for example I'd want 3 doors down optimized in 3 doors down and tommy emmanuel optimized in Tommy Emmanuel....if I have different pages with different tags, will the robots notice this and react accordingly or will they view one site with numerous tags on different pages as spam? SEO Posted May 17, 2003 Posted May 17, 2003 Each page of a site should be optimized (just like you are thinking). The reason for the terminology (site optimization) is that most search engine algorithms look at a 'site' as a unit. They rank individual pages but that rank is influenced by the overall site (an actual evaluation of the overall site). This becomes more involved when you think about the internal structure (linkage) of a site. Have you read the search engine optimization section on link structure? Working with the logic explained allows one to structure a site in a way to put specific emphasis on one page vs. another. Hope this helps. Quote

Thanks, my main concern was being penalized for having pages go every which way and you think that is fine. That is all I can ask. Thanks again. Time to go play now. Quote
Ms. Fausey Posted May 20, 2003 Posted May 20, 2003 So, say I don't know anything about site optimization para nada! But, yet, my site is number 3 or number 4. Your guarantee for the top 20 would be kind of meaningless. Or, would you guarantee a higher ranking if the ranking is already high, ds? Thank much, friend. Feel the love, Nichole TCH Stones Quote

If, "you don't know anything about site optimization" and your site is ranked number 3 or 4, I would guess that you were using a relatively non-competitive search phrase. My first question would be is that the most appropriate phrase? Or, would you guarantee a higher ranking if the ranking is already high?
