karmacriminal Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 That do not loose ther clarity. I see on allot of sites where there is a ICON size picture of, for example, a screen shot of a web site, but it is very clear on has not lost its clarity. How do you create a small Icon size picture like this? Example at this site: askmen look at the center fo the page at the small icon pictures. Quote
TCH-Sales Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 I'd say the first thing you'd need is an image editor with a good "resizer" tool included. I've personally been pretty happy with PSP7 (especially since I got a $60 rebate from Amazon.com) and it has that built in. Also, if your picture seems a little fuzzy when you downsize it, you might try sharpening the image to get it a little more detail. Not all images look that great at a smaller size though. If it's a picture that's huge (as far as file size) there's alot more trying to compress than a smaller one. Hope this has helped a little, and have a good 'un! Quote
natimage Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 Hi, I do a lot of work in Photoshop, any you can do what you are talking about pretty easily in a program like that, provided you start with an image that is not too terribly large. I can resize down from a 750 pixel (width) image to 245 and still have decent presentation. All the images in my gallery on my site were reduced exactly like that! I also do not use the sharpen tool very often. Oddly enough, the unsharp tool works wonderful at giving you a nice pic for the web...especially when you are reducing the image size. If you don't have access to photoshop (or the arm and a leg that it takes to buy it...), there are some less feature packed imaging programs out there that should afford enough features for what you want.
