4MRM Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 I have had a message board for almost 2 years through a service that started out as free, but started charging users. To make a long story short, I'd like to get away from them because the cost is too much. If I add a forum to my site, how will effect my bandwidth and space usage on my site? I know members will want to add personalized avatars. Quote
TCH-JimE Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 Hi, Well i run a succesfully phpBB. It has the following average stats per day of 171 visitors, 2485.43 pages, 15718.21 hits and 32 megs of bandwidth. I have the blue style setup. There is no mail feature on the forum, and private messages are limted to a maximum of 10. With gzip feature turned on, the mysql database is about 15 megs in size (80 megs with no compression) . With 276 users and just under 10,000 articles. I hope this gives you some impression of what it will use, in other words, not very much on my silver package. Jim Quote
4MRM Posted May 14, 2003 Author Posted May 14, 2003 Thanks. I've been using a aimoo board and the cost is starting to kill me. I think I will make the switch. Quote
