Guest Ohl Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 I am currently hosting my PHP-Nuke/MySQL/Apache site on my own system. I would love to transfer my site to a hosting for a number of reason. 1. Using a dynamic IP address and thus must go throught a site update server site 2. I could actually shut my computer off at night for a change. But I have this fear of the unknown. It took me ions to get my site running having never used PHP/MySQL/Apache prior to establishing the site. I am fearful that transferring it out of my own hands and into someone elses would requre me to reconfigure things that are way above my head. So I guess my question is - how hard is it to migrate a PHP/MySQL site and is your help desk patient? LOL Ohl Quote
TCH-JimE Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 Hi, Well lets put a few pointers down: I) We offer a 30 day money back policy. If you get 1/2 way and decided you don't like it, just let us know and your free to go! II) In all honesty, it should be quite simple to transfer a php/mysql site between servers. Here is how I would do it: i) Back up everything. Twice. ii) Sign up with us, but keeping your current server online and running iii) Transfer your php to the new hosting. Then transfer the mysql database (many tutorials online about how to transfer mysql) iv) Tweak the odd thing which is bound not to work. v) Once your happy with the new site, transfer your domain name keeping both sites up and running till the DNS transfers have taken place (72 hrs normally) vi) Turn your computer off and enjoy having your site hosted for you If at any point before point (v) you want to give up, then you just have to close your hosting account and your old one will be unaffected. By using the back ups, it also means your old one is unaffected. III) Yes we are patient! Hope this helps Jim Quote
