procrastinate Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Hi, I uploaded some images to my file manager but when i click on "show file contents" to try to view my pics, i get a broken image link. The images come up tho, when i go to the image location in my browser. Can someone tell me what is wrong? Thanks! Quote
TCH-Andy Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 That is a current "feature" in cpanel - if you try and view the contents of an image. However, if you look down a little on the right, you will find a link to the "File URL:" if you click that, it should show up fine. Quote
procrastinate Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 Hmm...I don't quite understand what you mean by it being a "feature" in cpanel. What is the feature you're refering to? I also don't see a link to the "file url:" Although I just realized something, the "show file contents" actually works but only with smaller files. I have 2 differen't sized images - some are about 50k, the rest are over 100k. Only the 50k ones show up when I click on "show file contents." The ones over 100k show up as a broken link. The only way for me to view them is to type in the url in a browser. Am I doing something wrong or is that just how it is w/File Manager? Is there any way I can view large images within cPanel? I noticed that under each file description, it showed "resolution, 72x72". Is that the highest my images can be set at in order to view them in file manager? What does that translate into for file size? Sorry but I'm just really confused... Quote
TCH-Rob Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 "Feature" is often used to describe a bug in software. It is used with a bit of irony. For example, I found a new feature on my cell-phone, it shuts off when I attach the data cable to it. That is just how that option works in cPanel. Look below the "Show file contents" link, what is the last link in that half of the window, above the trash area? Quote
procrastinate Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 Oh, haaa. ic, thanks for clearing that up, Rob! I'm not down w/the lingo so i got all confused =P haahaa ....Hmm...the last link under "show file contents" is "move file." I don't see a "file URL:" if that's what you're referring to. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Most of the time there is a "File URL" listed under the "Move File" link. Odd that it is not there for you. Quote
procrastinate Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 Oh oh...n/m i wans't looking at my images in the public folder....i guess it makes sense that there's only a url for images there. duh =P btw what is the diff b/t public_html and www? they seem to have identical content Quote
procrastinate Posted July 8, 2005 Author Posted July 8, 2005 what's a symbolic link? like it just links back to the public folder? Quote
TCH-Andy Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 yes, www just points to the same space as public_html Quote
