antandsons Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 I run this website (http://www.antandsons.com ) and I want the images and everything else on the pages to run faster. How can I ensure this happens? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 I don´t use either Frontpage or Publisher so this may not be worth much but I loaded your homepage in 2 seconds, I´m on high-speed but still, its pretty fast. I also checked your site with one of the Website analyzers on the internet and it told me that your site loads pretty fast on various speeds (compared to some others I have checked). Quote
stevevan Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 The speed of the website has very little to do with the program used to create it with. A lot of variable go into how fast a site loads..bandwidth, latency, size of graphics, connection type, etc. It mostly depends upon the amount of content. The best rule of thumb I could offer is to keep your images as small as you possibly can. (I believe gif's and png's are the preferred method of displaying graphics now.) Also, keep the total size of your page as small as you can. The less amount of traffic to go through, the faster it will load no matter what type of connection the end customer has. Quote
antandsons Posted June 22, 2005 Author Posted June 22, 2005 The one problem I have is that I am trying to ad other things to the site, for example text ads. When I do this, the pictures and text load at different times. How can you get everything to appear at once? Quote
youneverknow Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 There is a problem with the REAL TRADER page in Firefox. Your navigation covers up the text. youneverknow PS: Loaded fast here in Seattle!!! Quote

If it is text ads, (from for example google), I don´t think there is much you can do, since the ads are "picked up" by your site so to speak. The google server and your server needs to communicate with each other and if googles server is slow for the moment, there will be a delay before they show up I believe. Quote
stevevan Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 If you get content from another site, there will be issues. It's just the nature of how the Internet operates. Quote
