bellringr Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 I need to pick the brains of the NYC-knowledgeable people again please. I'm trying to find a place to stay for the two nights in Manhattan that the company isn't paying for, and the cheapest I've found so far (for a hotel I know I can trust) is $350/night. While I know anything in Manhattan is going to be pricey, I'd like to keep it under $200/night if at all possible. We don't need much - just a clean, safe place to crash out for a couple of nights. I'd prefer Midtown, but one of the villages is ok as well. Any ideas? Quote
Deverill Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 I don't know how trustworthy they are but they advertise a lot on tv... I went to hotels.com and just went with the defaults and found several under $200. One is 3.5 stars downtown and there are others that may suit you. Quote
bellringr Posted June 15, 2005 Author Posted June 15, 2005 That's a possibility, but I'm so leery of using that when I don't know what I'm going to get. Quote
Madmanmcp Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 What my wife and I used for our 2 week driving vacation to Florida in May was to stop at the Welcome Centers at the State line and picked up the Hotel guides and coupon books. They gave prices and locations and directions and all the special deals available. So while I was driving she was on the cell phone talking with all the possibilities and getting the cheapest deal. We actually saved a lot of money. We originally had some nice selections from Hotels.com in the $59-$89 range printed up before we left. My wife found a Hampton doing a Grand opening at $39 a night and another special at $29 from the coupon book. We trashed the plans we had from hotel.com and worked strictly from the deals we found. It also gave my wife something to do during the trip All the hotels were known names and she made sure I had my wireless internet in the rooms. Quote
thehemi Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 I used one that I found through Hotels.com awhile back. I do not remember the name. Rooms were tiny! But I guess that's probably the norm in such a crammed city. Quote
