I'm just wondering if anyone has taken a peak at Avant the IE clone, i do quite enjoy firefox, and will still use it but it seems there are a few sites, and as well as issues that i find firefox hasn't jumped past yet.. so instead of going back to IE, i went to take a peak at Avant. it looks nice, and has alot of neat options. just wondering if anyone else has taken a peak at this browser?

I like this part.

Is Avant Browser a secure browser?

Yes, Avant Browser is secure. Since it's based on Internet Explorer, Avant Browser is as secure as Internet Explorer.

Note, I have not tried this so I cant give an objective reply. Looks interesting though.

Well, through what I have read is that it is not so much its own browser but an ad-on for IE. If you look at the requirements it states "IE 5.5 should be installed, and IE 6.0 is recommended". They call it a browser that uses the Internet Explorer page rendering engine. Still kind of sounds like IE to me. What do I know, I like Konqueror.

Rob, as far as I know, it's not an addon for IE, it's a different program that makes use of IE's HTML rendering engine - thus the "Yes, Avant Browser is secure. Since it's based on Internet Explorer, Avant Browser is as secure as Internet Explorer" funny phrase of the day :)

Avant is just a shel for Internet Explorer. It still uses the IE rendring engine and is therefore still subject to the same exploits. The main difference is that the Avant code handles the incoming HTML before sending it to IE so it can filter out pop up codes etc. Avant is just one of many many "browsers" that are just IE wrappers.
