Greetings. i stumbled across this place a few months ago. After looking at a couple of member sites, i realized that the server speed was much better than my current host's. So, i'm now looking at switching hosts, but i have some questions:

[li=1][*]Can i be guaranteed a faster server speed than my current one (www.impleri.net)?

[*]Would i be able to transfer everything over fairly painlessly (my host also uses cPanel)?

[*]For the regular members, how is support around here?

[*]My current host has a problem keping up with billing info (i.e. they did not charge me for five months, then when i notified them, i had to pay everything in a balloon payment). Do you guys keep up with billing?

[*]What about auto-payments and annual payments?[/li]

i think those are my main questions.

OH, i also wanted to know if you guys help out with some basic PHP and MySQL support...i'm developing an open source CMS and am not too great on coding--my academic field is Philosophy. Do you guys mind if i host zip files or tarballs of my releases?

1. Tough to make a guarantee when many things can affect network speed that is beyond our control. I am quite satisfied with the speed of the servers though.

2. It shouldn't be much of a problem and you can ask the techs to do it for you.

3. Even though I am a mod, I volunteer here so I could answer but I will leave it to the "regular" members.

4. Billing has always been top notch for me.

5. Auto (if you mean monthly out of the account you use to pay with) and annual payments are available.

If you have a question with it, post it here in the forums. We love to help.

Welcome to the forums, hope to see you around here more often.

Yes, welcome to the forums. I'm sure if you transfer you won't look back. As for me, TCH was my first host, and will be my last (to clarify: I won't be leaving TCH). They just can't be beat...

Welcome to the forum

As to speed, does your current host have quad Xeon servers with 2 gig of ram?

If the files are yours and downloading them do not take up too much resources

it should not be a problem.

You can ask about php and mysql in the forums

and I am sure our family will try to help.

OK, i've signed up and received the welcome email. Now, i need to transfer all the data from the old server (they use cPanel 10...) to the new one before changing the DNS entries. How do we go about doing that?
