Eft37 Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Hi- I am strongly considering moving in here to Totalchoice, all my friends use you. My current host has had me down for over 24 hours and I cannot deal with them any longer. I am looking at the Gold plan. I have 4 domains I maintain at the other host, all of them sharing space in the same account. Can I do the same here? I use cPanel there and have just barely gotten through and initiated a full back up. Oce I set up the account with Totalchoice, can I just restore that back up and be set to go? So, once DNS propigates, I'll be without any hitches of having to set-up all the accounts and e-mails? Will I be able to move the domains (& registrations) over? Thanks, Tim Quote
TCH-Andy Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Hi Tim, Welcome to the forums. You would need a reseller account to host 4 different domains on the one account - or you would need 4 separate plans. Yes, you can restore tha backup here - or, if you upload it to your space, and open a ticket at the help desk, we'll restore it for you. If the old server is up and running - we could also try a direct cpanel - cpanel transfer for you. Yes, you can move your domain registrations over to us. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Hi and welcome to the forum. I have 4 domains I maintain at the other host, all of them sharing space in the same account. Can I do the same here? You are only allowed one domain per virtual account (per the AUP)so this would require a reseller account, on which you can use several domains. You may however park domains on each other on a virtual account, but they must point to same root.I use cPanel there and have just barely gotten through and initiated a full back up.Oce I set up the account with Totalchoice, can I just restore that back up and be set to go? Since your current host use cpanel you can ask the help desk here if they can help you with a cpanel to cpanel transfer. This way you should not need to transfer anything. Quote
Eft37 Posted June 1, 2005 Author Posted June 1, 2005 (edited) You would need a reseller account to host 4 different domains on the one account - or you <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How come? I'm not reselling, I just want more than one domain and an easy space to maintain. Looking at the plan differences, it seems the reseller plans get much less bandwidth than the Gold plan, but that seems to be the difference, that and the multiple domain handling and added cost. It'd be easier on cost/+ extra bandwidth to get 4 of the $4/month plans, but then I'd probably lose the easy transfer ability of cpanel-to-cpanel in getting them all set up. TweezerMan Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Welcome to the forums, Tim! You would need a reseller account to host 4 different domains on the one account... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How come? I'm not reselling, I just want more than one domain and an easy space to maintain. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The virtual hosting plans are designed and priced with the intent that only one domain will be used on each account. The reseller hosting plans are designed and priced for the ability to use multiple domains on each account: Web hosting resellers programs from TotalChoice Hosting give you the freedom, power and flexibility to host as many domain names as you like within your preselected disk space and data transfer limits. You are not limited by the number of domain names in your hosting account, just the resources that those domain names actually use. Quote
Deverill Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Welcome to the forums, Tim. You would be able to use the Cpanel to Cpanel transfer whether you use a reseller or 4 separate accounts. Remember it's not guaranteed to work but our techs will give it their best shot. There are ease-of-use reasons to go with a reseller too. I have 5 domains in one reseller account and it's much easier to maintain. Reseller accounts are not just for resellers... many of us here have reseller accounts instead of separate accounts but don't resell services. Quote
Eft37 Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 (edited) I started with moving one account. On my old system, all my other domains were given space via add-on domains. Can I do that with my $4/month account? can I change my log-in name for the account? How do I ask for a cpanel-to-cpanel transfer? Edited June 3, 2005 by Eft37 Quote
TCH-Andy Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Hi, You can not host multiple domains on a $4/month account - no. Add-on domains are not allowed on such accounts. You will need to open a ticket at our help desk (link at top of page) for us to transfer your account - we will need your old login details as well as your new login details. Quote

Can I do that with my $4/month account? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Add-on domains are not allowed on virtual hosting ("$4/month") accounts. can I change my log-in name for the account? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Account usernames (the "log-in" name) cannot be changed. How do I ask for a cpanel-to-cpanel transfer? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can request a CPanel-to-Cpanel transfer by submitting a ticket to the Help Desk. Quote
Eft37 Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 Lastly, I have started with 1 $4/month account and plan to add 2 more (I'm dumping a domain). Can I switch billing from monthly to quarterly easlily? Can I tie all 3 accounts into the same billing cycle? Can I have each account on a different server? The first transfer was quite seemless and I am pretty happy with everything except the goobledy gook username. Can I add another name of my own chosing with complete access? Quote
TCH-Michelle Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 HI, Yes you can switch to quarterly billing at any time by opening a ticket on our support desk at tchhelp.com and submit it to our billing department. All of your new accounts will be billed on the first of the month with the exception of the sign up payments. As far as having each account on a different server I am not sure on that as accounts are put on the server available at that time. If you put that you would like them on a different server we can certainly look at that when the new account is created and do our best to accommodate you. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Can I add another name of my own chosing with complete access? The creation of account usernames is 100% automated. The account username that you are issued with your welcome email will not be changed unless there is compelling and potentially harmful consequences of using the assigned name. For example, if the autogenerated name created is vulgar or otherwise distasteful, we will certainly consider the change at our sole discretion. If you feel that your given account username deserves a change, please submit a helpdesk ticket to allow us to review the case. Quote

Eft37 Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 I just got a call from TCH-Michelle in billing to verify that my site & domain were OK. I like this company. Quote
TCH-Don Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 While it will not work for cpanel if you are lookig to have an easier ftp name you could set up an ftp account with your own user name for the access folder use / to have ftp access to all the folders. Quote
