Mav2u Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 I see no PHPbb choice in my addon scripts choice. I'm on server 23, is this not updated on here yet? Not that I'm in a hurry to use it but I would like to see if if runs any better than Invision board. Seems alot of people like it. But, I want to see for myself before I convert. Thanks, Mav Quote
jimzdat Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 On cPanel, it's not under the "Addon Scripts", but 2 notches lower--it just says "Bulletin Board" (at least on server17) click that, and it should take you to the phpBB setup dialog quick edit--if you would like to see a phpBB in use, visit www.bonnevilleattitude.com/forum they are now hosted here on TCH also (plus I'm the chief moderator, so I gotta plug em every so often ) Quote
Mav2u Posted May 3, 2003 Author Posted May 3, 2003 DOH!! Sure as shizzel it is right there before my eyes. Bulletin Board!! How the heck did I miss that, must be the 9 hours of coding that has fizzeled my mind! Time for some sleep. Thanks guys, Mav Quote
jimzdat Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 Wolf, I don't believe TCH offers it in cPanel, but if it's like most forum software (php/SQL based) there's no reason you couldn't install it yourself--just cant expect them to help you with it (at least not for free) Check with other forums related to the product, you may find all the help you need though Quote
The Wolf Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 I know how to use php and install openbb, just trying to make the point that you should include NONE or as many as possible bulletin boards to keep everyone happy. Quote
Lianna Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 Wolf, Are you serious? If we provided NONE or ALL then the ramifications are just unacceptable to us. We can be moderate here and not completely kill our selves or our clientelle. Here's the deal. If we offer NONE as you suggest, then TCH loses value. If we attempted to offer everything that everyone could ever ask for, then you'd be paying at least double if not triple for your hosting, tech support would be a bloody nightmare and no one would be happy. Chosing from two options of guestbooks preinstalled or two options of bulletin boards preintsalled is a plus and plenty in my opinion. Then if a user particularly likes another script/app that is not in those choices, they have the option to install it of their own accord OR they can pay TCH to install it for them. That is Total Choice balanced with stability of service. Quote
