I'm using Firefox to read the Family Forums, but I'm having sporatic troubles searching the forums.

When I click on the "View New Posts" link, about 7 out of 10 times, the browser hangs on a blank page. I've let it sit for up to 5 minutes with no avail.

http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...rch&CODE=getnew is the link I'm trying to use.

I get the same problem with the same frequency when I try to click on the "Today's Active Posts" link on the main forum page.

If I click refresh too soon, I get the standard flood control error message. But when I wait the 20 seconds and click again, all I see is a blank screen.

This is not a problem in IE. I'm using Firefox 1.0.3.

Any thoughts???

EDIT: bummer. I tried to edit this post so I could fix the spelling error in the title, but I guess I can't edit the title of the message. Oh well. Know at least that I noticed it!

I've tried that, but it doesn't work for me.

Right now I'm not able to use Firefox to "View New Posts" at all. It is failing every time. If I click the back button, and click it again, I get the flood control error. If I wait 20 seconds, I get a white screen.

This is happening every time I click the "View New Posts" button in Firefox. It isn't happening at all for me in IE.

Maybe I should try to reinstall Firefox?? (If no other Firefox users are having this trouble)

I use Firefox as well, but don't have the problems you describe. Occasionally it will hang, but very infrequently.

I would try reinstalling and see if that fixes it.

Maybe my computer is insisting that it is Friday and thinks I should go home now instead of hanging out in the forums.

Maybe it will magically work on Monday. More likely, I'll wait until Monday to reinstall Firefox... :)

You did try deleting cookies & cache right?

You must have used the Firefox update when you downloaded it. I always uninstall and reinstall. That usually takes the bugs out. Hope that helps.

I'm seeing this behavior on TCH forums (opening any links, not just "View New Posts") and on my TCH-hosted web site (my MT install and my CPanel), using Firefox on Windows XP. I notice it less on other sites, because I spend most of my time in those two places.

I have not investigated this issue at all; my initial thought is that it is a network or server issue, as I do not see this behavior when I visit Six Apart's forums (which are also running IPB). That doesn't really rule out much - it could still be my browser, Windows, my ISP's DNS servers, a network problem between me and TCH, TCH's DNS servers, or a problem with TCH web servers.

I normally open most links in new tabs. If the page does not display within 10 seconds or so, I click the Stop buton, close the tab that's now open with a blank page, then re-click the link I was trying to open (again in a new tab). 90% of the time, the page displays within a couple of seconds after I've re-clicked on the link.

I don't know why the first click often does not load the page, nor why clicking a link the second time usually works. :)

Yea in the last 3 days I have experienced the same problems...I'm glad (or not) that I am not the only one having those issues. I get that flood control thing or a blank page about 7 out of 10 times....a little frustrating :)

youneverknow
