Hello. My current host is about to shut down, and I'm considering your business for my next host. I do have a few specific questions, however.

I run a "horror graphics" phpbb forum on my current domain. The graphics contained therein would be no worse than a basic horror movie, and most of the graphics are computerized, not even photographic in the slightest. Aside from this, all the forums are only viewable to registered and logged in members anyway. Would this be violating your Acceptable Use Policy? If you would like to see the forum in question to make a determination, I can make an account for you so you can see what is within.

Also, do you use CPanel? If so, what version?

With the unlimited subdomains, is it possible to set up seperate FTP accounts for them?

Is your billing monthly or yearly?

This would be for my personal webpages, and select people I would host on my domain (but not charge hosting for...more or less hosting my friends webpages for free) that occassionally donate money towards hosting.

That's all I can think of for now...but expect me back when I think of more questions. :)

Welcome to the forums Mish

I run a "horror graphics" phpbb forum on my current domain.  The graphics contained therein would be no worse than a basic horror movie, and most of the graphics are computerized, not even photographic in the slightest.  Aside from this, all the forums are only viewable to registered and logged in members anyway.  Would this be violating your Acceptable Use Policy?  If you would like to see the forum in question to make a determination, I can make an account for you so you can see what is within.

That should not be a problem as long as you own the copyrights to the images.

Also, do you use CPanel?  If so, what version?
CPanel is what TCH uses and it is version 9.x.x or 10.x.x on some servers.

With the unlimited subdomains, is it possible to set up seperate FTP accounts for them?

Yes, that is possible.

Is your billing monthly or yearly?
If you purchase a virtual hosting plan you can pay monthly or yearly. If you sign up for a reseller plan it is billed monthly. You can upgrade at any time.

This would be for my personal webpages, and select people I would host on my domain (but not charge hosting for...more or less hosting my friends webpages for free) that occassionally donate money towards hosting.

On a virtual (normal) hosting plan you are not allowed to charge for use of your subdomains and you may not point domains to any of your subdomains or folders. They must be accessed subdomain.your-domain.ext or your-domain.ext/subdomain.

If you have a reseller plan you would be allowed to point top level domains at your subdomains or folders.

Thanks for the welcome! :D

Some of the graphics are inspired by horror movies and the such, and we claim no ownership...they are just fan graphics. The majority is original work, just a bit on the darker side. :)

Is it possible to choose? My last host had version 10, and I'm quite fond of it. :)

Yes, that is possible.

This is sounding better and better!! B)

Oh, I wouldn't be charging. They would be a subdomain of my own domain, which is why I asked about the FTP accounts. I don't ask for anything in return, but if they want to help out, I won't turn that away either. I also don't ask for donations on site except for one forum thread with my paypal email address IF people want to donate. A lot of the people who are being hosted are friends, and they more or less paypal me without informing me ahead of time.

I DID think of something else. My current domain is set to expire in June (this would be the end of it's second year). If I purchase from you, it would probably be before then. I noticed that you have domain registration for $10.95. Does that price only apply to when I sign up? Or would I be able to get that when my domain name expired and I renew it? Currently it's registered through Network Solutions. If I can't renew my domain for the $10.95, I was thinking of getting a new one anyway, same one after two years can get boring. :)

Thanks for everything so far, you've been wonderfully helpful, and I am most thankful. Is the tech support in a forum too? *goes to look* :D

Welcome Mish :)

You can purchase or transfer or renew a domain here for the $10.95

anytime, thats the normal price.

The help desk is not a forum, but a secure support site.

Ahhh, goody, I like the sound of that. It's a whole lot better than the $35/year I've been paying for years on end. I still might just get a new one instead of renewing the old one though. B)

Ahhh, secure support sites work too. I just like forums better, they're a lot more personable. :)

The support site is similar to a forum but secure.

You post a ticket with your account info and problem.

When the techs look at your post, they can reply

and then when you go back to look at your ticket,

you will see their post with their answer or solution below yours.

they will close the ticket automatically when they leave your ticket,

and you can go back and add more info if you still need help.

You will get an e-mail as soon as you submit the ticket and when it is resolved.

Be sure to use an e-mail not on your site, I use my ISP e-mail.

The support desk if for indivdual account problems

for general problems you can post here.

If you need more info, please ask :)

I forgot to add,

the e-mails from the help desk will have a link back to your ticket

and you can also just go back to the helpdesk and log in to see your ticket history.

Welcome to the forums, Mish! One thing that I might mention is that since your old host is using CPanel, transfer to TCH should be very easy to do! Get with the help desk and they'll hook you right up!

Okay, last question. What's the catch with the $10.95/year domain name thing? Is this company affiliated with you? There has to be some catch for it being so cheap. :flex:

The only catch is that you have to play in the forums often. :flex:

Ok, really, there is no catch.
