MumboJumbo Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Hi, I've been doing quite a bit of looking over the internet at different hosting providers, and I think I may be settling with you. First of all though you will be my first in that field as I've never purchased hosting before. I'm also in Australia, so I hope you are able to provide for me in that case. Some questions though. Does it matter in whether you purchase the domain name either before or after you've purchased a web hosting plan? Which is the best way? Also, is there something wrong with your ordering system? Because while I'm not 100% sure that I will be purchasing from you (though I'm pretty sure), I was interested in seeing what the next page would bring up, when going to buy one of your plans, but all it did was bring up a new page saying 'Please contact technical support.' then with a grey bar underneath. Also, just in case you want to know I'm mostly interested in setting up a phpbb forum with you (but with a html page as you first went to the domain name, where you could click enter and it would take you to the forum) and was going to purchase the Starter Plan which gives 10GB bandwidth and if I needed more at some point, I would go to a higher package. Anyway, that's all from me now. Luke Quote
TCH-Don Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Hi Luke, welcome to the forum I just went through a few pages of the order process and it seems to working ok now. We have many customers from Australia without any problems. I think it is best to get the domain first, so you can be sure you get the one you want, then order the hosting. If you start with the starter plan, you can always upgrade later by opening a help desk ticket. Quote
MumboJumbo Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 Thanks for the responses, guys! Seems like a nice place here, so I'm pretty sure I will go with you. But I still get the error trying to go through the order pages, and I don't know why that is. So if it's still there when I make up my decision I guess I'll have to put a ticket through to Technical Support like it says. Quote
MumboJumbo Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 (edited) It just says 'Please contact technical support.' on the top left, and then a few lines down on the center of the page is a grey bar. I could perhaps do a print screen and save it as a jpeg and then send it to an email address if you would like to see it? Edited April 8, 2005 by MumboJumbo Quote
Head Guru Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 That would be most excellent, as I am not seeing any errors in our logs. If you can drop me a e-mail I will look for it. Bill Quote
stevevan Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Welcome to the forums! I think you'll be very happy in your choice with TCH. Quote
MumboJumbo Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 (edited) Thanks Bill! I just sent you an email, with the error attached in jpg format. Edited April 8, 2005 by MumboJumbo Quote
abinidi Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Luke, Welcome to the forums. I hope that you will choose TCH. I have been with three other hosting companies, and when I found TCH, I couldn't believe what services I got for the price I paid! What a value! All else aside (and there is a lot of other benefits) the support TCH provides places them (in my opinion) in the top 1% of all companies in the world (in all industries). Every interaction with TCH has been top notch for me. Every probolem has been resolved quickly, professionally, and efficiently. You just won't find that elsewhere. I know a lot of people who have looked. Quote
MumboJumbo Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 Thanks for the further welcomes, Steve and Bruce! Oh and the recommendation from abinidi! I'm pretty positive I'll be going with TCH... I just need to get over the hitch first of it not letting me order a Plan. Quote
MumboJumbo Posted April 9, 2005 Author Posted April 9, 2005 I just uploaded the error I got to this page as well if anyone has any ideas: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/LukeP/error.jpg Quote
Head Guru Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 I have never seen that error in the past. Please use the following link to make a new order. https://ssl.totalchoicehosting.com/billing/...egister&lang=en Quote
MumboJumbo Posted April 10, 2005 Author Posted April 10, 2005 (edited) Thanks for the alternate address Bill! That one seems to work fine It will work the same as the other one though? I've just got to sort out a few things and I'll probably find myself signing up with you sometime within the week. Funny thing though, I got one of my friends who use the same ISP as me to try accessing the page where I got the error and they got it too, yet another friend who uses a different ISP in Australia received no error. So I'm thinking somehow it is some setting with my ISP. Edited April 10, 2005 by MumboJumbo Quote
