fsefco Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Hi there. I am in need of some serious help!! My domain is www.eatshopplay.com. The domain was hosted by another company and I switched it over to Total Choice Hosting. I am having problems now seeing the site from my laptop and getting mail. I'm not sure if it has to do with some kind of routing issue on my computer?? I tried clearing my broser cache. I use IE and I deleted temp internet files. My mail is failing as well. Meaning outlook express. It cannot connect to the server. My other host used mail.eatshopplay.com as the mail server, so I'm not sure if my laptop is trying to hit that old server rather than the new one?? Any ideas? I tried Total Choice Support and they can pull up and view my site. It is only on my laptop where I am having trouble. Thanks. Quote
fsefco Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 If I ping www.eatshopplay.com from my laptop, I get... C:\>ping www.eatshopplay.com Pinging eatshopplay.com [65.254.50.74] with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Should I be able to ping that domain and is that the correct IP? Quote
TCH-RobertM Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 hi fsefco, Are you behind a company firewall or something like that ? Quote
fsefco Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 No, I'm not behind anything. I have an old laptop with virtually nothing on it, and a wireless internet card for getting out on the internet. Quote
Head Guru Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 I am seeing your site from from Michigan. Perhaps a firewall? Quote

fsefco Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 My laptop has the power cord hooked into it and a wireless network card from Nextel. Those are the only two things going on with my laptop. I don't have any firewall software or any related software installed. Man this is strange. Quote
fsefco Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 what is a tracert?? I'd be happy to try anything right about now... Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Go to a dos prompt. Click your start button, select Run and enter CMD in the box. Now you have a DOS window open. Enter tracert www.yoursite.com and hit enter Quote

TCH-RobertM Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 fsefco, Did you add anything to your .htaccess file or attempt to block any Ip addresses from your site ? Quote
fsefco Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 no. i didn't do anything like that. Quote
fsefco Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 yeah man i can pull up your site no problem. Quote
TCH-RobertM Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 fsefco , I dont know what else to try I am at a loss as to why you cannot access your site. I can see your site with no problems at all. maybe someone else can help out. sorry Quote
Madmanmcp Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 I can not resolve any of the IP's you listed in your trace. I would take a wild guess that you are using a wireless connection at work and those are internal routers. You are being blocked from accessing the internet and your site for some reason and will need to contact the admins there. *** Looking up 65.254.48.2 *** Unable to resolve 65.254.48.2 *** Looking up 209.51.131.25 *** Unable to resolve 209.51.131.25 *** Looking up 209.51.131.25 *** Unable to resolve 209.51.131.25 *** Looking up 4.78.210.6 *** Unable to resolve 4.78.210.6 *** Looking up 172.29.248.52 *** Unable to resolve 172.29.248.52 *** Looking up 65.254.50.74 *** Resolved 65.254.50.74 to server5.totalchoicehosting.com Quote
fsefco Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 From that tracert, do you guys know where that last ip address is? 65.254.48.2 It looks close to the ip of the server that hosts my page from what i can tell. Quote
fsefco Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 Internal routers as in internal routers at my wireless service provider? I do use Nextel wireless card for internet access. I can contact their support if that looks like the place where the problem lies. Odd that I can access any other site except www.eatshopplay.com. Quote
