Samrc Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 I have a strong constitution. Usually. I have spent days out of work this month with bronchitis and a throat infection (from sinus yuck). After a couple weeks of antibiotics and cough meds, I was feeling so much better... for three days that is. Now I have another sinus infection and feeling like yuck again. Round 2 of a different antibiotic! And more coughing and SNEEZING up the wazoo. The doctors say this has been the worst season they have seen for sinus infections. Do you think the hurricanes changed pressure or stirred up dormant stuff or what??? -Samantha Quote
TCH-Rob Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 I would have to say they have had no effect on me. Quote
TCH-Don Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Bronchitus is so hard to get rid of, I had it every year for 4 years. Lots of chicken soup and orange juice seems to help. Get well soon Sami Quote
Deverill Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Sorry you're not feeling up to your best. I doubt it's the hurricanes but it could be since that much wind has to stir up stuff, but is it that or just germs coming in from other places? Any time we have a sick-spell here we Key Westers usually attribute it to tourists bringing their favorite bug with them and we don't have any immunities built up against it or it's the wind shifting and blowing crud from the Everglades. Right now there's a pretty big Red Tide heading our way along the west coast so you never know what's the true cause of it. Anyway, get better soon, ok?!? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Hope you feel better soon. I had sinus problems a few years ago that ended up with having surgery. Not fun, but I haven't had any problems since. Quote
Joaquin Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Hi Samrc, I have friends who have improved their sinus/allergy issues by using higher-end furnace filters ( and changing them often ). I guess this would only help if you are using a forced air heating system, but I thought I would share. Quote
Samrc Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 I do use the higher end filters (my a/c runs off my furnace system) and change them monthly. This bug has been really bad this year! Lots of folks coming down with it! My elderly neighbor was rushed to the hospital yesterday, turns out his sinus trouble has turned to pneumonia. We've both been struggling with it for weeks, but I have been through 2 antibiotics to prevent that from happening. He kept toughing it out without pills. He's going to be ok after a few days in the hospital. I still have residual crud trying to drown me, but my lungs are clear. -Samantha Quote
TCH-Rob Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Sam, That has to be rough. We dont get much aftermath in Arizona from hurricanes but we have had a lot of rain this year, that is going to make for a bad spring for those of us that have allergies. I feel for you, not fun. Quote
