Microsoft has offered its Beta Anti-Spyware for free at this link...

This is not really a new MS product but one they purchased from Giant Software.

It found a couple that AdAware and Spybot did not detect...all in all a nice program IMHO

Giant was my favorite anti spyware program, I hope MS doesnt ruin it

That program found 6 threats that spybot & Adaware never did.

I had never heard of Giant before this but as Mike says, hope MS doesn´t ruin it.

I used Giant about a month ago on a friends machine and found over 1700 files.

 

Is M$ going to offer this for free when it's out of beta?

Bruce...I think the talk around here is that MS is going to offer the combination spyware and an anti virus program as a suite. Yes they plan on charging for the updates like Symantec and other do. But for now this is free....I don't know how often the definition base will be updated or when and if this beta will stop working.

Well that sucks. I already have a good anti-virus program. I don't need a suite.

The EUA says it will simply cease to function July 2005

The "y" was a known malware product and has been removed from the system. You may still be able to get it from the quarantine file though.

Hey, this is Microsoft we're talking about. Just because a part of the system wasn't ready (the y's) they shipped anyway and hoped no one would notice
