pix Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Hello, I'm are looking for a hosting service to move 6 domains that we've been hosting on bloghosts.com. TCH looks promising if it's possible to move our sites to it and maintain their functionality/data. Here are my questions: 1. Do you have cPanel and Fantastico for installing/managing applications? 2. Do you have or provide the following applications via Fantastico (they are applications we currently use): Coppermine (photo gallery) Invision (discussion board) Gallery (photo gallery) Mailman (mailing list) WordPress (blog) 3. Is there a way to move our data (i.e. our blogs, discussion boards, and photo gallery) without recreating everything from scratch? Would you be able to help us in moving these and what do we need to do on our end before bloghosts shuts down? 4. For two of our sites, we have subdomains that we host ourselves at fixed IP addresses. Bloghosts was able to do this for us, e.g. www.domain.com was hosted on their server and they pointed the dns for abc.domain.com to a fixed IP we provided them. Would you be able to provide the same for us. Thanks in advance for your time and reply. Quote

Cpanel yes, Fantastico - no 2. The other software packages can be downloaded and installed. 3. Is there a way to move our data (i.e. our blogs, discussion boards, and photo gallery) without recreating everything from scratch? Would you be able to help us in moving these and what do we need to do on our end before bloghosts shuts down? A cPanel to cPanel transfer might be possible others have been ported over successfully. Open a support ticket with the details of your account and they will try to move it over. 4. For two of our sites, we have subdomains that we host ourselves at fixed IP addresses. Bloghosts was able to do this for us, e.g. www.domain.com was hosted on their server and they pointed the dns for abc.domain.com to a fixed IP we provided them. Looking forward to seeing you around. Quote
pix Posted December 27, 2004 Author Posted December 27, 2004 Hello Thanks for the quick reply. You said that a cPanel to cPanel port might be possible. Does that mean that such a port would transfer the settings of cPanel configured applications such as Mailman (i.e. it would transfer the Mailman lists with their subscriber addresses, settings, and messages)? If not would your staff be able to help in doing that separately? Also assuming I download the applications that you don't have via cPanel (such as Coppermine Gallery and WordPress), would your support staff be able to help in transferring whatever database tables and data are associated with each? I would rather you did that (and I pay for it if need be) than my having to learn how to do it. Thanks again. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 If you already have those applications installed on your current host I think they would all come over except for maybe Mailman. I am a forum moderator and not a TCH tech. For the correct answer to that please open a help desk support ticket. Quote
pix Posted December 27, 2004 Author Posted December 27, 2004 OK, I submitted an order for one web site. If all goes well, I'll move the other five. BTW, is each web site order its own account even if I'm entereing pretty much the same owner info (name, address, phone, credit card)? I would prefer that they be separate accounts. Thanks Quote
TCH-Rob Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 If you ask for them to be they will be. Quote

whoahorse Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Hey Tattoo.. what is the coding in your post that tells people their IP and such, that is very kewl! Weezy Quote
pix Posted December 28, 2004 Author Posted December 28, 2004 Hello TCH-Rob, We're off to a great start. I signed up for the first site and your support was able to move it's blog, gallery, and mailing list in short order. I tried registering for a second account to move the second site, but your order system is detecting an existing account and not letting me a different one for the 2nd site. Are you saying I should submit the order under the same account and then ask (either in the comment or in a subsequent ticket) to have a new account created? Thanks. Quote
TCH-Don Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Welcome to the Family Pix and your new home! just open a help ticket (link at top of page) to Customer Service tell them all the details of your first order and what you want to do and they will get you setup. We really are like family here. So if you need anything, just ask your new family! We love to help Quote
