YMe369 Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 OK here's the deal: I alredy got 3 subdomains on my site, but now a forth is needed, so just like the previous 3, I went to Manage subdomains - and added a new subdomain. It says its been added, it DOES show up in the list of subdomains, it DID create a new folder (map) in the public_html folder. But when I point my browser to the subdomain (http://spawn.evdnet.com), it DOESNT show, and when I take the normal path (www.evdnet.com/spawn) then it DOES show. This is confusing, and not to mention irritating, especially since I wanted to put the site up today (as of april 1st), but now its gonna cost me more time, just because the stupid thing wont work. Help is needed (and appreciated), so please Quote
Lianna Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 It's there. http://spawn.evdnet.com This is what I see: HTTP://SPAWN.EVDNET.COMAktief. OK. Quote
Junior Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 It worked for me: HTTP://SPAWN.EVDNET.COM Aktief. OK. Quote
YMe369 Posted April 1, 2003 Author Posted April 1, 2003 Yeah thats what its supposed to say, i put that up for testing if the site works, but when i go there (on any of my 2 machines) it gives a The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. Am I stupid then?? and in other browsers it says "couldnt locate remote server" AND i tested another sub, (created another 1 just for testing) and it didnt show up either Quote
Lianna Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 When you go to the subdomain, hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard while clicking Refresh. That should force the page to refresh completely, and bypass any cached page that you may have on your pc(s). Quote
YMe369 Posted April 1, 2003 Author Posted April 1, 2003 UPDATE: i just tested it on my Mac, and there it DOESNt work either. EDIT: Lol, i was typing this one, while Lstover was doing the other one. Tried that, didnt work though Quote
YMe369 Posted April 1, 2003 Author Posted April 1, 2003 Gotta be an ISP issue then, sorry. Guess so, but why the hell is it only with newly created subs then, cuz my older ones DO work... Crap Quote
Lianna Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 First, please calm down. I sure don't want this little bitty thing to be the cause of a catastrophic day. It's like this. I don't know all the technical in's-n-out's of it, but the ISP does not have the update yet. That's all. They have the old ones because they've been updated since they were created? They don't have the new ones because they haven't? At any rate, what's the big deal? You CAN access the site! domain.com/sub. You admitted that it worked like that right? Give it some time and the sub.domain.com will show too. ....yoga....good for the mind and body. Lianna Quote
YMe369 Posted April 1, 2003 Author Posted April 1, 2003 Yes yes, i know and i admit you are right, but its just bugging me. I just asked some more folks, and they too can see it, so i guess its ok, since my main concern is that everybody else (and especially my teacher) can see it, since we've been working on this as a school project. If it still doesnt work tomorrow, ill go and pay my ISP a visit... And i dont know about Yoga, but I do like Yoghurt. anyway, enough with the BS, Thanks Quote
