Greetings,

I signed up for web hosting this morning.

After signing up, I decided I wanted to use a different domain name. I registered the name this morning also.

I've tried to get through to someone about this but so far haven't made any progress.

Can you tell me how to change the domain name for my account?

Thanks

Hey Rick and Don,

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I reported a coupla times but so far I haven't gotten a respnse. I haven't checked my email for the past several minutes though.

Will there be any problem changing the domain name for my account?

Thanks again.

Rick,

I got your email saying you took care of it. Thanks a lot.

Man that was fast. You guys are lickety split.

Two more questions,

Since I now have an unused domain name, what do I do with it?

Do I have to set up the DNS Servers or any of that business for my domain name that I'm using?

Thanks again

It should not be any problem if you received the registration email for the second domain.

Welcome to your extended family :-)

As for DNS...

If you registered the domains through TCH, they should already be set.

If you registered the domains through another registrar, you will need to tell them to set the nameservers to ns1.totalchoicehosting.com and ns2.totalchoicehosting.com or if the registrar have a control panel you should be able to set it yourself.

Hey guys,

This place is great. Thanks for all the support.

The reason for all the name confusion is that my son and I were butting heads over it, if you know what I mean.

I'm not really well-versed on domain parking and the intricacies of using multiple domains.

I've only launched two other sites with the same hosting company and they did everthing. It took about five minutes on the phone answering questions.

.....

I only want to stick with one domain on my site.

If I don't park or use the other domain name, does it just sit idle?

Thanks again

Hey Thomas,

I checked my name servers for the two domains.

The domain I wan to use for the site is set as such:

Nameserver 1:NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM

Nameserver 2:NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM

The domain I don't want to use is set at Park with a different name server.

Do I need to reverse the order of the name servers. In other words. Should I have the domain for the site set at:

Nameserver 1:NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM

Nameserver 2:NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM

Thanks a mil

I have never been in a situation like yours (not wanting to use a domain I mean) so I cant tell you what to do with it, but I can tell what I would do.

I would set the nameservers to Nameserver 1:NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM and NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM too and then submit a ticket to the techs and ask them to park the non wanted domain on the wanted one. If I have paid for something, I would thinking why not use it, even a non used domain.

Just because its parked it does not mean you need to use it. You can just let it be there in the control panel. Who knows, some day you may find it usefull.
