GroovyFish Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 How is phpMyAdmin updated? Does Cpanel do this or is it done manually by TCH? How soon is it usually done after a new release? I only ask because a security fix patch was released yesterday. Thanks! Quote
jandafields Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 I am pretty sure it is only updated with CPanel. So, no more updates to PHPMyAdmin until CPanel is updated again. However, you may install whatever version you want to your account very easily, and use that instead of the built-in version... Quote
TCH-Dick Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 phpmyadmin is updated when cpanel is updated, the "security flaw" in phpmyadmin is not a major threat. Quote from the folks at cpanel This was received by the security team, however this does not warrent an immediate update. The vulnerability allows users to execute commands as the user "nobody" in cPanel which has no access privlages. It is the same as someone passing system commands in perl. While this will be updated we will wait and make sure all the bugs in it are worked out first. If you have your OWN version of phpmyadmin installed then it is a security issue and you need to update it or remove it. Quote
GroovyFish Posted October 18, 2004 Author Posted October 18, 2004 Thanks Mike! I don't have a separate copy installed so I am not going to worry about it. Secunia has it listed as highly critical, so I wasn't sure how/if it affected us. Quote
