Eric Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Not sure if this is correct forum or not. I am looking to Install and run Teamspeak on my Webspace. Am I allowed to do this? and can I get some advice as to how to go about it? Quote
boxturt Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Not on a shared server but yes you can on a dedicated server. I'm sure another forum member will be along with more info. Quote
Eric Posted September 30, 2004 Author Posted September 30, 2004 How do I know If I am on dedicated or Shared server? Quote
LisaJill Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 there's a huge price difference. =) You can tell from how much you're paying and what plan you signed up with. Quote
Eric Posted September 30, 2004 Author Posted September 30, 2004 I am a silver member sheesh it is just a small program Quote
LisaJill Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Any application that requires it's own user, and runs as it's own service constantly requires it's own server. These can end up taking a lot of resources and you're just not going to get that on $5/month. =) You can read about dedicated servers here and if you are interested you should submit a ticket to sales to see if any are available. =) Quote
Eric Posted September 30, 2004 Author Posted September 30, 2004 Just like the MAN stickin it to the little people ok lookin at your sugestion Quote
Eric Posted September 30, 2004 Author Posted September 30, 2004 OUCH Ok I guess I will forget that idea. Have a good day Quote
TCH-Rob Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Eric, No one is sticking anything to anyone. I am willing to bet that you expect a fast response time from your site. How would like to have another user run a program that brings your site to a halt. I know I wouldnt like it yet the application you are wanting to use has the capability to do just that. The goal is to protect our clients and give them the best response time possible. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Trying to get off cheap are we? the average TeamSpeak server runs $20.00 a month. If you don't want to spend that much then run it on your home pc. I'm assuming your wanting to run this for a clan, one of you probally has a static IP. if you still don't want to pay for it try going to http://www.homelanfed.com/ and registering your clan. They used to give free TeamSpeak channels to clans that meet certain requirements. Its not something for nothing deal, you will need to stay an active member of that community. Quote
