Deverill Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 Hi y'all, I have Firefox 1.0 Preview and it seems I can't install any extensions. When I click on the Install now button I get an error that it can't get the file. It happens on every extension and if I download it to my hard drive I can then just double click it and install it. Any ideas? Thanks! Quote
TCH-Rob Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Jim, None that I can think of. Heck, I am using bird 0.7 still. Having issues getting latest fox version to install on BSD 5.2.1, some error about not having something installed that is there. I will let you know if I find anything on it though. Quote
TCH-Don Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Looks like I will wait a while to try 1.0 9.3 is very stable, I love it. Quote
borfast Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Jim, I have no clue about what could be the problem but try searching MozillaZine's forums or post a new message if you don't find anything related to that. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 (edited) Have you tried uninstall, reinstall...the standard things? Im asking because I have version 1.0 preview working with out any problems (incl a few extensions). Edited September 27, 2004 by Jikrantz Quote
borfast Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Wow, talk about a change of opinion: Thomas is now helping other people at solving problems with Firefox! Just kidding, Thomas Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Hey, Im only saying I have no problem with it. Not saying I like it. No, actually I like it. Just a few things I have problem doing that was a piece of cake in I.E. AND my site looks better in Firefox, atleast on my monitor. Quote
borfast Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 (edited) Hey, Im only saying I have no problem with it. Not saying I like it. lol @ Thomas I'm glad you like it As for the stuff you used to do in IE but can't do as easily in Firefox, may I ask what they were? Perhaps I know of a way to do them as easily with Firefox (Edit: I have the feeling that I have already asked you this... if so, ignore me ) Edited September 27, 2004 by TCH-Raul Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 There´s probably several things, but 2 of them that I can think of now is: 1) Print page in rightclick menu. 2)In bookmarks, I want a way to delete a bookmark when rightclicking on it. Right now when rightclicking a bookmark in a group (in lack of words), I get a little square on the bookmark and then the "group" is frozen and no bookmark in that group can be accessed. To access them again I need to either close FF and restart or atleast open a new tab. Sorry for confusing explanation. There are a few other things, but I have seen exensions for them (but unfortunately for other versions than 1.0 Preview), I hope they make these extensions for 1.0. :heart What I do love is the tabs. :heart Also, I can use it for bank stuff which I understand most people cant. TCH-Dick Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 1) Print page in rightclick menu. Print 0.2.1The only problem, it is not currently compatible with 1.0PR 2)In bookmarks, I want a way to delete a bookmark when rightclicking on it. Not sure about this one, I don't have a problem with it. Also, I can use it for bank stuff which I understand most people cant. I think this all depends on your bank. I have no problems using it with mine. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Thanks Dick. I will check them out. Quote
borfast Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Thomas, for the printing one, I have an even better solution: CTRL+P I don't know about the bookmarks but I do agree that clickable (and also dragable - does this word exist? ) bookmark entries would be nice. I don't miss them at all but it would be nice, I guess. About the tabs, that's what made me start using Opera, when Mozilla still didn't have tabs. I automatically fell in love with it Oh, and my bank gives me no problems at all for using Firefox, either. Thumbs Up Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Thomas, for the printing one, I have an even better solution: CTRL+P Thanks Raul I have never been much for keyboard shortcuts (never felt those were faster/better), so I never thought of checking out which shortcut FF had for this. borfast Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Most people don't like keyboard shortcuts but many times I prefer them to a graphical/menu driven interface, because they're much quicker. I believe this is one such situation. Using the keyboard shortcut, I only have to press two keys. Using the right-click menu, I'd have to right-click, move the mouse to the print option and click it. It's hard to explain with words, makes it look ridiculously similar But anyway, I find it quicker to do via the keyboard shortcut Quote
