cemtas
Hi, Just a few questions if I may 1) I understand that you have a limitation of how many emails can be sent via your SMTP servers. I'll be using a couple of mailing lists with the number of subscribed users between 20 and 100 max (non commercial, for high school friends, hobby club, etc). My question is, if I send an email to a mailing list of let's say 100 subscribers, will my single email count as 100, or 1 outgoing mail? In other words, shall the mailing list program have to send the email to the first 50 subscribers first, wait for 5 minutes, and do the other 50? 2) Accessing the control panel seems to work on a non secured http:// connection. Is this correct? If so, does this pose security risks since I shall then be entering my master password over a non-secured internet connection? The same question for web-mail as well. 3) Am I allowed to manage my DNS zone records (A, MX, CNAME)? Thanks for your kind answers, Regards, Cem
TCH-Andy
Hi Cem, 1. it would count as 100 emails, so yes, you would need to split it. 2. You can access the secure cpanel with h**tps://domain:2083 3. On a standard account, we manage all teh DNS zone for you - you can ask us for specific requirements via the help desk. cemtas
Hi Andy, Thx for the speedy answers. Regarding the 2nd issue (https://), what about secure web mail access? Cheers, Cem
jandafields
For Outlook, SSL SMTP is on port 465 For secure ssl Webmail, use: https://www.domain.com:2096

TCH-Don
I do not use mailman, but for Dada Mail see this post on how to set batch mode to send and pause.

Auder
Sorry. I had no idea that bumping a post was verbotten. Can you point me towards your rules? It seemed to me that other posts were being answered within minutes and this one was forgotten. Please forgive my impatience. I will continue to wait for a response. TCH-Andy
Hi Auder, You need to use something like Dada mail - and the link / instructions Don gave above.
Auder
Thanks for your quick response Andy. I must be confused here. Isn't mailman the default mailing list in the control panel? That is the one I have set up and a list I run now has 57 members...I am worried about the last 7. Is Dada a replacement for mailman? Is it also available on the CPanel? TCH-Rob
Sorry, just woke up. Is Dada a replacement for mailman? Is it also available on the CPanel? Yes it is a better mailing list program. It is not available in cPanel but Don has posted a link above.
Auder
Thanks Rob. Do you know of any instructions or tutorials for transferring a list from mailman to dada? With just 57 addresses it's not that big of a deal but if there is an easy way that would be great.
TCH-Rob
I am unaware of one but we may have someone here that is. Hang tight for an answer.
TCH-Don
As part of the installation instructions, you create a dada folder called dada_files above the public_html folder in there is the list file (listname.list) and it is a simple format name@domain nextname@doman . . . . so it should be easy to add a name or group of name to it. edit ---------- just tried it, works fine. philsbarbie
If I go with Dada, will I then be able to send more emails to my mailing list, or does it only serve the purpose of batching it for me?? Thanks! Oh wait! Please keep in mind that one of us is slightly "ignernt" at these sorts of things!

philsbarbie
Makes the batching process easier. By the way, Welcome aboard. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tanx! Been around awhile, just haven't posted. <g> Now, back to my problem. I have a mailing list with right at 200 members. If I send them 2 emails per hour, that's my alloted email usage. Unfortunately, when dealing with genealogy, you get some very gabby folks. I need to be able to send more. Help!
TCH-Don
Welcome to the Family and your new home! You can set the list to batch at 10 e-mail per minute. We really are like family here. philsbarbie
You may want to check out this thread. It shows how to set up the batch processing. Happy Holidays! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And, actually I had, but I don't speak any foreign languages, so I was slightly cofused.......no am teasing! But still don't understand how that will help. Let's pretend.......... I have 200 members......they send 20 emails per hour.....those 20 have to be sent back out to the other 180 people........even with batching/spooling that's still too many emails per hour for my account, right?? Then my mail starts bouncing back to me, and nothing goes out. Now, I can appreciate not being a large "mailing list hosting service" but what can I do to accomplish what I want to do?? Now, if any of this has made sense and if anyone can help in anyway, it would be greatly appreciated. I did download dada last night, and got it uploaded, but my script knowledge is almost as slim as the rest of my smarts, and it's not working as of yet. Thanks so much, everyone for all of your help! TCH-Don
As far as installing, you need to follow the install instructions on their site, step by step. The main thing is to go into the setup file config.pm and make the changes, but scroll down past the documentation in that file, about 50 lines or so. However from your discription,I am not sure that this will work for you. If you are sending that many e-mail per hour, you may need to use a specialty service geared toward heavy e-mail lists. I do not know of any off hand as I do not use group lists, only announce.
TCH-Don
Here is another thought. Can you use a forum like this one? You can restrict access to member approveds by you, and have back and forth conversations like this one.
