  1. My Dada mail program had been working successfully for over a year and I just tried to access the list and all I get is an internal server error. I checked and mail.cgi is chmoded 755 as it should be and nothing seems to have changed. I'm stumped. Any ideas?
  2. Thanks Rob. Do you know of any instructions or tutorials for transferring a list from mailman to dada? With just 57 addresses it's not that big of a deal but if there is an easy way that would be great.
  3. Thanks for your quick response Andy. I must be confused here. Isn't mailman the default mailing list in the control panel? That is the one I have set up and a list I run now has 57 members...I am worried about the last 7. Is Dada a replacement for mailman? Is it also available on the CPanel? Auder
  4. Sorry. I had no idea that bumping a post was verbotten. Can you point me towards your rules? It seemed to me that other posts were being answered within minutes and this one was forgotten. Please forgive my impatience. I will continue to wait for a response.
  5. Hi Kristi - You helped a great deal! Many thanks. Turns out my support ticket got a quick response and tech support says there is a glitch. Here's what they said: So now I can wait instead of fret and diligently look through config files. Thumbs Up I like waiting better.
  6. I was wondering about the mailing lists ability to email and asked it to send me a reminder of my password. It claimed that it emailed it to me but I received no email. It's as if the program is functioning but has no ability to send mail. Is there a setting somewhere that might be affecting this? Maybe it's time to send a help ticket. I would be very curious to hear from anyone willing to try and start a mailing list from their site to see if they get similar results. Thanks. Auder
  7. Hi Kristi - The "regular" and "plain" modes are set as defaults, not the "digest". The "Emergency moderation of all list traffic" is set to NO. The max k is 40 which I think is more than enough for the teensy emails that are being used to test things. These were all good ideas. I really thought that the digest was the problem and was surprised to see it turned off...it would have made sense due to the messages being archived but not emailed out. Oh well. Do you have a working mailing list with this software? I tried starting mailing lists on a couple of other sites I have here and they all do the same thing. Frustrating. A
  8. Thanks for your response bellringr. I have gone through the many settings and looked diligently for anything that might hold up the works and haven't found anything yet. I do know that the messages that are being sent are getting to the list. I can see them in the archives. They just aren't being broadcast out to the various addresses. It's like the engine is running but it's just not in gear! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Auder
  9. Thanks Raul. I will wait a while and see if someone may have some feedback and if not I will submit a help ticket. The problem with the mailing lists is simply that they aren't mailing! If someone has a functional mailing list that is working I would love to hear from you just to know that the program as provided in the CP is actually capable of working. My guess is that it is user error.... I just need someone to point out the error...
  10. I have been experimenting with a mailing list from the control panel and have found that when I send an email to the list from a valid email address that is included on the list that the list doesn't seem to send out messages to the list. I am sure there must be some little something that I am omitting here. ?? Any help for this mailing list newb? Any ideas of what I might be doing wrong? Thanks Aud
  11. Many thanks! Just what I needed. I don't understand how my searches on this forum on the word "guestbook" didn't seem to bring up that thread. Is there some trick to using the search here?
  12. Somehow the background colors changed on my advanced guestbook and my admin username and password became unusable. It seems someone has gotten access and switched it the way they wanted it. ugh. I went to the mysql table and changed the authorized person and left the password blank which got me back in. I have changed the username and password but now I worry about securing it so this doesn't happen again. Any ideas on what might be happening and measures I should take? Thanks. Auder
  13. I put the advanced guestbook up and it seems great. For anyone wanting to change the line at the top "Thanks for visiting my site. You can leave your mark here" text or something close to that you can edit this at the lang/english.php file. You can add links or other text there also as long as any extra quotes (") get a (\) (omit the parentheses) in front of them. One question I have. When using the comment feature I get the following error message: Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/mysite/public_html/guest/lang/english.php:105) in /home/mysite/public_html/guest/lib/comment.class.php on line 152 It looks like my editing has created an error. The comment function still works fine it just gives this error after being used. Looks like it is expecting something a bit different from the edited english.php file. Any ideas on how to fix it? Many thanks.
