michéal Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 I went to subscribe to a newsletter and also a login with some different websites. Put in my email address, some accepted it, others said "invalid email address". Can someone please explain this!! Quote
TCH-Andy Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 What's the format of your email address? As long as it's of the form xxx@somedomain.tld it should be fine. Quote
michéal Posted September 2, 2004 Author Posted September 2, 2004 It is an info@domainname.info (which is my own site) and some accept it, others don't. I just don't understand it, just one of those things I guess. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 Could it be that the sign up form is not set to recognize the .info TLD? Quote
michéal Posted September 4, 2004 Author Posted September 4, 2004 but it is a valid email address within a valid website domain, so it should be recognised Quote
LisaJill Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 A lot of the scripts do "validation" of the mail address - that is, they make sure it's got all the rights parts to be a real address. Part of that is validating the last segment (.com, .net) etc against the possible TLDs. It is very possible that they've not included the .info segment and therefore it won't let you sign up. I'd contact them and complain; I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one with the problem. =) Quote
michéal Posted September 4, 2004 Author Posted September 4, 2004 you see i keep different addresses for different things and the.info was work related but I have that changed now Quote
michéal Posted September 21, 2004 Author Posted September 21, 2004 back with the "invalid email address" this time its with certain engines not accepting the .info tld again. Surely the search engines should recognise it. It is begining to be a pain in the butt. I am thinking of dropping the .info and going for a .com or something else. Does anyone else have this problem. Or anyone with some advice. Rock Sign Quote
Don Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 I agree with Lisa, email them and make them fix their problem. Quote
