Ninepatch Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Does anyone know if there's a way to set the increments by which IrfanView sharpens an image? In my Camedia software, which came with my Olympus camera, the sharpen feature works in very small increments. Irfan seems to take a hefty leap each time you apply Sharpen. It would be nice if you could back that down to a smaller increment which could be applied multiple times. Anyone know? I'm using V 3.91. Thanks. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 From the online help: Enter a value (1-99) to control how deep the sharpen effect is; higher numbers sharpen the image more; the default is 30. From the Image menu, select Effects and then Effects browser. You can select Sharpen from there and change the value. Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Beth, while you are there, check out the effect for beveled edge Quote
youneverknow Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 In irfan view I set mine at 10 and if that is not enough I hit sharpen again for a total of 20. any more than that it starts to pixulate. youneverknow Quote
Ninepatch Posted August 21, 2004 Author Posted August 21, 2004 I bow to you all - you are my heroes! I've only played with it for a few hours and have had a ball. What an amazing little program it is. It's making major improvements on my website, that's for sure. Don - I found the bevel settings when I was playing with making buttons the other day, too cool! Thanks all of you for your help! Quote
youneverknow Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 If you have a picture that is dark I go to effects and up the gamma to as high as 1.67 and increase the contrast to 23 and that seems to really help those darkish photos Quote
Ninepatch Posted August 22, 2004 Author Posted August 22, 2004 I have 4 images that are dark, but that's because of my scanner. They are transparancies and the quality just isn't there in the scan, even though the HP scanner I have is equipped with a transparency function. I got semi-decent results playing with the gamma and contrast, but nothing to brag about. I'm liking Irfan more and more as I play with it. I'm actually going to rescan all of the images I did for the page I created yesterday, LOL. Thanks again for all of your help. Quote
Samrc Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 There's a series of Irfanview tutorials here if anyone is interested: *ttp://www.indeavors.com/services_wbt_ivtutorial.htm They are made with another handy program called WINK. TCH-Bruce Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 I've created tutorials using WINK at work. Nice program. Quote
