!!blue Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 Hi, Finally found the downtime to post my question, phew! In my email (using Horde) I have duplicate inbox folders. Here's the break down of all my folders: >| INBOX | [-] ****.zoblue.com (subdomain) | [-] blue | | inbox | [-] bluebids | | inbox | [-] ****.zoblue.com (subdomain) | drafts | [-] ****.zoblue.com (subdomain) | INBOX.Drafts | inbox.pop | INBOX.Sent | INBOX.Trash | [-] info | | inbox | [-] mystic | | inbox | saved-messages | [-] ****.zoblue.com (subdomain) | sent-mail | spam | trash | [-] zoblue.com | [-] blue | | inbox | | spam | [-] bluebids | | inbox | | spam | [-] info | | inbox | | spam | [-] mystic | | inbox | [-] zulema_ortiz | | inbox |[-] zulema_ortiz | | inbox each [-] is an open folder and each ****.zoblue.com is a subdomain's folder. So... ok, the folders under zoblue.com are the ones that get the emails (5 email accts) . The same folders in the root don't get any email. Also, why would a sub-domain have a folder, but no inbox? And how do I get rid of the duplicate folders that don't get any email? please shed some light, !!blue Quote
!!blue Posted August 23, 2004 Author Posted August 23, 2004 Awww... no replies? must be a tough one! Quote
TCH-Rick Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 The duplicate folders should only be visible if you are logged into your main admin email account. They are due to the way CPanel is set up to provide for previous mail systems and a remnant of moving to some new ways of handling subdomain mail. You really should not delete any as it can create problems. Quote
!!blue Posted August 24, 2004 Author Posted August 24, 2004 Thanks! That, at least, offers an explanation as to why Horde shows duplicate folders. But I'm not going to delete folders and I don't even know if I can delete them. thanks, !!blue Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Hey, I have always wondered that too. Thanks for asking this Blue One additional question though... If I log in to horde with my cpanelusername and then finds a message I want to delete in one of these inboxes, does it then get deleted from all inboxes if that message is in several which it sounds like it can be? !!blue Posted August 27, 2004 Author Posted August 27, 2004 Actually, even though I have duplicate folders, only one set receives email. The duplicate folders don't. They use to before the second set showed up, but now they don't. (Does that make sense? ) To summarize, only one set of the twin folders receive emails. I don't get two copies of emails, only one. Hope that helps , !!blue Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 (edited) That helps... I think One more question though... Lets say I as logged in with cpanelusername wants to check all accounts for spam, viruses etc, so I can delete it before I do a backup hopefully without a virus, can I then easily tell which one of these twins I need to check? likoma Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 I've noticed the duplicate folders as well and twice now mail goes to the "less deep" folder and gets stuck there and the user never gets it (unless I move it manually). This has happened twice now (around 06/29/04 and 11/29/04). Maybe that's some sort of scheduled maintenance job that makes this happen? In any case, the emails are then lost to the user. Any way to make those misplaced emails automatically go to the folder that the user uses? Thanks, - Bradley Quote
