TCH-Bruce Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Anyone have any clue why in the new entry form when using Movable Type the bold, italic, underline and URL buttons are visible and in Firefox they are not? What can I change to see them in Firefox? (see image) Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Why? Because we like you! M-O-U-S-E Ok, so I can add no real value since I have moved to WP but I will see if I can find anything for you. Quote
LisaJill Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Because they are IE only javascript, not DOM compatible. I have no comment on that. There are some hacks out there for it, but I don't have the links for them. I avoid hacking cgi files because cgi scares me. =) Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Yeah Bruce! Sheesh. Word Press works on FireFox Quote
LisaJill Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 So does ExpressionEngine. Textpattern uses Textile so doesn't have those buttons but textile makes it easy. Yadda Yadda.... *dances* Quote
bellringr Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Don't tell them that Lisa - Bruce and Bunni just got both of their blogs transferred over to MT this week and they worked so hard to get them to look purdy! Quote
Bunni Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Thanks, bell. I just wanted to get out of Blogger and it's idiosyncracies. The fun is in learning new software and being able to compare the similarities and the differences in the search for what is better for our needs and wants. First I want to master MT. I have much to learn yet. Later on I'll try WP and/or EE. Can't let the old brain stagnate! Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 OK, where is Arvind? He uses Firefox and MT. Maybe he has the solution. Don't really need the buttons, since I know how to code each of those but it was faster with them. Bell, as for just moving to MT, I was runing an MT blog in tandem with the Blogger one learning it. It didn't look as it appears now because I didn't know much about changing the templates. But I am semi-comfortable making changes to the templates and CSS to get what I want. And I am going to be changing the theme (for lack of a better word) soon. I have found something else I like but need to modify the templates first. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 Yeah Bruce! Sheesh. Word Press works on FireFox Next step in the learning process. How different are WordPress tags to MT? Anyone know? Wouldn't be hard to move a tempate set if the tags were similar. Moving to MT from Blogger wasn't hard at all with the import/export tools. Template took some work. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 (edited) If anyone else wants to get the buttons working in Firefox with additional buttons head on over to Arvind's Movalog site and check out the QuickTabs. www.movalog.com Edited August 19, 2004 by TCH-Bruce Quote
LisaJill Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 No idea about the templates. Wordpress you just edit the index and all the other pages derive from it - that's one of the parts that I did not like. It's all php in the templates and I found it rather confusing. =) Bruce, you could also check out one of the external post things, they sometimes have full wysiwyg ediing, pretty neat. I forget the names of them, ones like w.blogger and kunglog might be good though. =) oh and zempt. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 (edited) Thanks Lisa Since I've found a solution to the editing buttons in Firefox I may stick with MT for the time being. I'll still give WP a try when I get some time. Edited August 19, 2004 by TCH-Bruce Quote
LisaJill Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Those external editors I mention work with both wp and mt, they're for editing offline/easier happier stuff. =) Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 Thanks again, I'll check them out. Quote
Sven Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 I take it from TCH-Rob's reply that Word Press works at TCH. Does it work on all plans? I have been doing research on blogging software and it seems that WP is gaining traction. Thanks in advance, Sven. Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Welcome Sven, yes it will work on all plans Let us know if you have any more questions, we love to help Quote
Sven Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Thanks for the prompt response; I'll sign up this week and give it a go. I shouldn't need a lot of space at the start; I take it I can upgrade if I need to. Rock Sign Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Yes you can upgrade anytime just open a help ticket (link at top of this page) and tell them what you want to do. Hope to see you in the introductions forum soon Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Sven, I am using all of about 2MB at the moment for WP. You will be a while before you need to upgrade. Quote
