horobey Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Well I didnt find the answer on the site so here is the question: Can I have several domains in one account? If yes how will it look like -- each domain points to some folder in the account or all of them point to the web root of my future account? Actually here is what I need 1) 200+ MB space 2) 1+ GB transfer 3) 2+ mysql 4) 2+ ftp 5) 2+ emails 6) 2+ domains (best if each of them points to separated folder) Hope to get your positive ansver today, since my old and cheap hosting is down and one of my friends, your reseller has recommended you as very reliable and value for the money hosting, so here I am, exploring your site With best wishes, Yuriy (Ukraine) Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Hi Yuriy, and welcome. The starter plan at $4 a month will fit all your requirements and more. As to the multiple domains, you can have the other domains parked on top of your starter account by the techs. But you cannot have the other domains point to a folder, or subdomain with the normal accounts. If you need to point the other domain to anything but the account root you can get a reseller account and have many domains and create your own accounts for each domain. If you need any more information, please ask. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Hi Yuriy, and welcome. Unless you want all the domains pointing to a single entry point the startup plan will work for you. If you need multpile domains to point to their own entry points would require a reseller plan. The simple reseller plan would fit your needs. Moving for orgainization. Quote
horobey Posted August 11, 2004 Author Posted August 11, 2004 Thank you guys! 30 minutes to answer my questions -- WOW super!! Where can I see what is your uptime? regards, Yuriy Quote
horobey Posted August 11, 2004 Author Posted August 11, 2004 just asked my friend with credit card to order 1 year of starter plan. as far as I understand when my business will grow it will be no problem to upgrade to more advanced plans and finally end up with dedicated server, right? another question: for how long are you in business? regards, Yuriy Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 That is correct. When you are ready to upgrade you just submit a support ticket explaining what you are wanting to do and they will help you get it done. Quote

rnmcd Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 As to the multiple domains, you can have the other domains parked on top of your starter account by the techs. But you cannot have the other domains point to a folder, or subdomain with the normal accounts. If you need to point the other domain to anything but the account root.... Can someone explain what that statment means? I understand a reseller account's purpose if you have multiple domains and you want each one to have it's own website. If Yuri chose to do what was suggested here (parking the domains on top of the starter account) what actually is happening? What would happen to someone that navigated to one of those 'parked' domains? On another note, let' say I start with the Starter Plan with domain X.com then I decide to change to domain Y.com, what would I need to do have that take place...would I have to register for another Starter Plan and transfer the site over? Also, if I choose to switch to a reseller plan in 6 months (and I've prepaid for a year of Starter Plan) will I get a credit that I can apply to the Reseller account? Thanks, Ron Quote
Deverill Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 If you have domains parked on other domains, a person going to any of the domains will end up on the exact same page. You can not have shoes.com and shirts.com parked on each other with each of them having the appropriate content - they would both point to the same page (a storefront perhaps). To change domain names you would submit a ticket to the help desk and the techs would tell their servers that you're now called domainy.com. All accounts can be upgraded very easily and you would pay a reduced rate depending on how much you've already paid for your existing account. You won't lose money by switching. Quote
horobey Posted August 21, 2004 Author Posted August 21, 2004 Well, maybe it is too early to say but it seems like my 'parked' domain is not working... 1) I have purchased starter package and domain for it is http://smiledsoft.com/ after several days it became visible from everywhere 2)Nearly in the same time I have changed my registrar's name server records for my old domain http://horobey.com/ so now these nameservers point to NS1,NS2.Totalchoicehosting.com 3)then I submited a ticked just as I was adviced in these forums 4)http://horobey.com/ does not point tomy current site, it still points to my registrar 'Parked' page. maybe I did something wrong? Can you checkit? Or maybe sometimes it takes morethan 72h for domain to propagate over the Net? thanks Yuriy Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 The up to 72 hours is normal, but sometimes it can take longer. However you can submit a ticket and have the tech guys see if somethings wrong at their end. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Your name servers were updated on the 17th of August. Could be something went wrong. Please open a help desk ticket and have the techs check into it. Quote
TCH-Rick Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Give it a few more hours and it should work fine. It appears that the DNS Zone on the server maintained your godaddy parked page IP. I have corrected it and the domain should work fine given a little more time. If there is still a problem after a few hours open a ticket and we can repark it. Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Yuriy, its working for me now. It still may take a few more hours for some of the IPS name servers to update, but its working Quote
